Nikon D7200 Officially Announced

... They surely can add RAW video recording to any of their DSLRs, ML style, and the DR would be amazing. I would change my a7S for a D810 in a heartbeat. And it would probably take one week for a team of three or four engineers.
And there you have it.

Nikon is staying away from the video market because it made a deal with its FF sensor manufacturer to stay away from it. In financial terms, the deal must have made a lot of sense. In customer loyalty terms, it made sense for their stills shooters. For the videographers, not so much.

5D MK IV is making some waves now with its expected Q3 or Q4 arrival. I assume Nikon will have to offer a model similar to it then, as it doesn't even have a high end line to protect and its non-compete agreements with Sony must expire sooner or later. If so, CES or CP+ 2016 is when some of these 4K DSLR models will begin to show up.
