Nikon adapter is loose

I bought a Nikon -> Canon adapter ring with focus confirmation for my 60D. The focus confirmation bit works, but sometimes when I focus and hit the stop on the ring, the camera thinks the lens is disconnected and won't snap the shot. You can tell easily if using Live View mode, when the camera loses connection with the adapter Live View shuts off. Is there any way to fix this?

When holding just the lens + ring it feels pretty sturdy, it seems like the loose bit is between the EF side of the adapter and the camera body.

I ended up cutting thin strips of grip tape (for hockey sticks, etc) and putting them around the outside of the ring where it comes into contact with the outer EOS mount on the camera. The extra thickness of the tape helps and I think the "grippyness" of the tape helps as well.

You're kidding right ??? For $15 or $20 simply buy a new adaptor and send the old one back. You can't possibly be serious about grinding some of the most abbrasive material in the world back and forth on your camera mount?

Cheers,
Pete

Yeah but then I'd have to pay return shipping and wait another week for the new ring. I knew when I bought it that there was a high chance of it not working perfectly, based on reviews and comments from various sites. I was just curious what solutions worked to fix the issue.

Now it is a little difficult to remove the lens from the camera but I don't plan on doing it very often and I'd rather have a tight-fitting lens than a loose-fitting lens. Besides, it's a metal mount on the camera, I'm sure it's not harming it (famous last words) :)

How much money did you save over buying a reputable one?
