OUCH!
I have the non-ED version of this...
Here is my guess:
The piece on the left is the rear most piece (should have the nikon mount on it)
the piece on the back right is the front most piece (should have the filter ring on it)
The silver piece is the separation piece that should go on the piece on the left, I think.
Try screwing in the focus ring looking piece on the right into the piece on the left. The helicoids should mate up and screw together? Then put the silver piece on, then screw in the back.
That would be my guess, but, honestly, it is just a guess

Also, just noticed your studio monitor in the background. I don't own one of them myself, but I recognize it from a friend's studio. They sound GOOD!
