Since Newegg is primarily a CPU parts vendor I dont expect them to be an "authorized" dealer for cameras. Canon does honor the rebate if you buy it from Newegg, otherwise they wouldnt put it on their page.

The $100 price drop is nice but I wonder what happens next month when the $250 Canon rebate expires? Will it be like the DVX100B where it returned to full price for a few weeks and then they doubled their rebate?
I'm also wondering this...I don't know whether to take the plunge and buy it now or wait and save some money. Also does anyone know if the rebate has to reach Canon by the 30th or does it just need to be purchased before the 30th? Sorry for going off topic.
This is a very good price. B&H is selling the camera for $3500.

People on this board have had pretty good experiences buying cameras from Newegg, in this case a few bought the DVX100B when the rebate was at $250 last year.

Funny how for the same price these people paid 8 months ago you can now get the A1 for the same amount today.
Yep, but it's not like the DVX is a heaping pile of dogpoop either. It's a very solid, time tested, camera with great features. That said, I really like the SD images coming from the A1. 20x is great for what I do.
Also,
do I get the camera with NTSC or PAL? And can I change it from NTSC to PAL in that case ?
