newbie GH17 hack questions

My new GH1 has just become a GH17... I was testing it by shooting in a big white room and noticed a couple of large bands with move with the camera... here's a screenshot. http://moviesoundstudios.com/gh17-stripes.jpg Is this a bad camera, or am I doing something wrong? I also shot a green hallway with carpet and noticed the horizontal stripes. I've tried two lenses, and different ISO/exposure settings... brighter looking shots help, but I still notice it. Anyone seen anything like this??

Try a longer shutter speed or under different lighting. Bands like that can appear under fluorescent lighting that's flashing unusually slow (usually old bulbs). Try it in sunlight at low ISO, and if you still see the bands, you have a problem. However, those are definitely not anything the hack can cause.

Thanks... yeah... they're old bulbs... I just tried switching to "P" and it looks better.... so I'm hoping the camera is okay? I'll check out the FPN reduction settings as well.... appreciate the reply.

Shoot in Creative Movie Mode (the video camera on the dial) and set the exposure mode to M (full manual) and try longer shutter speeds to see if that helps. However, never go below 1/30th in FHD mode or 1/60th in SH mode. Your video will end up looking like @#$%.

Also, the picture you posted is not FPN, FPN/noise is grain or very thin lines that flash very quickly, usually differing frame to frame.

Since this is the newbie thread... not yet but still considering joining the club. Does clipwrap handle hacked footage, if not what is recommended for old mac users (g5 10.4.11, fcp6) log and transfer is not an option on my system.
