New Subthread for A7s?

Exactly. The cameras need to be together under commun mount, as that is the most important aspect (lenses, adapters) . There could be sub forums for more important cameras, but there should be some logic behind the top level organization. A "DSLR" is illogical category as the camera isn't even a DSLR (no OVF for example).

Apparently some think anything that looks like a "DSLR" is a "DSLR" even if it isn't.

You may not have realized, but other mirrorless cameras are discussed in that section as well. The GH series in particular stands out as an example of a "technically non DSLR" that still belongs there. Really, the section started off all about Canons that shoot video, but we all know they are no longer the only game in town, so the section is really all about affordable stills cameras that happen to be useful as video recorders. The A7s definitely falls into that category just as much as the GH4 does, which has quite the discussion going on there. Not one person has complained about this being the wrong section, as if it should go in the same section as the AF100.
To be perfectly honest, I always felt like the NEX7 and 5, etc, really deserved a section there too. There is no Sony representation in the small camera section, and those in that market don't know to find it here. I've gotten requests from users asking why we "hate Sony" because there isn't a section there for them, even though the GH, Canon, and Nikon all do. I know it's hard to see this objectively because you are part of this section in the forum, but if you look at the big picture I think you'll see that it doesn't really make much sense for Sony to be the only exception. I'm under the impression that this started as an oversight (not many fans of Sony stills cameras being used for video back then), and it's been left alone long enough to have created this mess. I'm ultimately not in charge of how the forum is organized (I'm only a section moderator) but this doesn't make any sense to me and it really feels like we are doing a disservice to the community at large leaving it like this. I'm telling you, people don't know the cameras are being discussed here, they think it's all about the FS class of video cameras, and the still shooters must not be popular enough to warrant their own discussion. I don't think that's the case at all.

The correct solution to GH should be that it should be a sub camera under a main forum that is dedicated to M4/3. GH, along with other M4/3 cameras, should have sub forum under that section. GH has far more common with AF100 (lenses, adapters) than with Canon 5D. Whoever is global moderator should consider reorganizing the forum with common mounts.

For example even though A7s, FS100, and F5 are all Sony cameras, A7s has far more common heritage with FS100 (lenses, adapters) than F5 has with FS100.

So here is my suggestion to the global mod: Rearrange the forum based on common native mount rather than on body shape. Make sub forums for important cameras instead of filling the main page with dozens of cameras. The main page should be simplified and should not scroll that much as that makes it harder to navigate.

Just wondering had the decision been made on whether there will be a dedicated sub forum/prefix for A7s (or even for FS7 in the F3/F5/F55)? The last 20 pages of the NEX Cameras had been full of A7 posts, the popularity should mean it deserved its own place or its own prefix like the Sony F3/F5/F55? With Fs7 in people's hand now there will also be an explosion of post in the F3/F5/F55 forum. What does everyone think?

I think the FS7 belongs to the F3/F5/F55 subforum, no need for anything there. And I think a7s, a6000, NEX-6, etc, belong together. Sure, the a7s and the FS7 are generating much more talk now, but that will also fade when a new and better model comes out.
Completely honest, but aware that I'm messing with the mods: I would have a "Sony expensive" and a "Sony cheap" subforums :p
(In fact I would ditch the DSLR thing altogether and also have "Canon expensive" and "Canon cheap", and Panasonic, etc.

Or maybe just stick to the F3/F5/F55 kind of naming, and keep updating the names of the sections as new cameras come out.

a7s definitely belongs here with Nex camera as they all share the same e mount and I think the camera will stay for a long time, maybe there can be a "full frame" e mount camera for a7s and it's future successor?

From the lens mount point of view, you can argue fs7 belongs here with a7s, fs700 ands fs100. f3/f5/f55 all have sony FZ/PL mount and should remain the same.

The NEX sub forum should be renamed Sony E-mount cameras or some such.

The FS7 is standing with one foot in F5/F55 land (sensor/codecs etc) and the other in the same waters as the FS700 (name/e-mount/raw output) so it's a tricky one to place.
