Only via the clear image zoom although there's also a slight crop in 4K/30p.
A 30 MPX APS-C would be a pretty decent compact/travel/jack-of-all-trades camera. And, if Sony includes the pixel shifting mode, it'd be a decent landscape/architecture/BiF/sports/action cam on top of that.
But if it has 10-bit video, it'll make life pretty hard for A7c.
Why do you want to crop on S35?
The first "modern" pixel shift I recall was on Olympus EM1 MKII back in 2016. It was a Sony MFT sensor (obviously). Sony, likewise, offers the higher res option on its own A7R series, as well as on Nikon, Pentax and Panasonic with full frame Sony sensors. It also offers it on some medium format cameras, with the lowest priced being GFX 100, where one can get 400 MPX.the a7siii didn't get pixel shift, so I doubt this will. at least there's precedent for 10-bit from sony in the form of the a7siii...
Meanwhile they continue to slash prices on Olympus and Nikon cameras.
If this Sony APS-C is going to have a significant jump in specs, they better dump all the old stuff.
And, so far, the early rumors look good enough : 32 MPX, 4K/60, 10-bit. No news on the crop, downsampling or pixel/line binning. My bet is on binning.
... who needs aps-c in photo-land
That ther is one my most favorite technical terms .. a flippy screen..
Another source basically confirmed what we know so far and added some tidbits (Thanks!):
Basically, an a7c with an aps-c sensor.
same EVF, LCD resolution
same tilt screen
same new menus
only minor tweaks to a7c body
BUT improved IBIS using smaller APS-C sensor
New sensor
higher resolution over current APS-C line
same FPS as a6600 but now pushing larger files
improved low-light performance
reduced rolling shutter
video specs may be close to a7c
price similar to a7c
