That pretty much nails it on the head.
You get 220Mbps - Less Macro Blocking ...
Samuel, that is far away to be a small improvement, actually... (EAnd it seems the NX1 is 8-bit 420 internally and 8-bit 422 over HDMI, so a small improvement too.

I have wondered the same thing. These things are so complete that we should have camera heads with controls for aperture, iso, frame rate and a hdmi out. It is 90% of a camera.

We'll that's sort of how BlackMagic started. They were already good with making recorders. Just add a screen and a camera to it and presto, the 2.5K camera is born.
It's true that all Sound Devices need is a camera so you never know. You could also see companies such as Atomos and and Convergent Design doing the same one day.

BMCmini or IO4k + recorder.
This enables..
-using the head on a gimbal/crane/fridge mount
-Upgrading the cam/chip without throwing away the recorder.

I follow you, reason why 5" PIX-E coupled to the lowlight queen a7S is one of my favorite less-than-1kg setups of todayYou may laugh but there is no mechanical advantage for anything more than the chip and the lens being on a gimbal (for example)

The closest to this concept currently is A7s. Will others follow suit?
