New P2 Log software for Macintosh users

OK... found it... just click the only active zoom button on the preview window. Yes... very smooth preview.

P2 log says you can export to fcp and quicktime in 720p 25/50 !
Is this really the case ?
I was told I'd need at least hdlog bronze or something to get a proper work flow with fcp.

Imagine Products has listened to the many Mac users crying out for an affordable P2 viewing and logging tool and today has introduced P2 Log, a new low cost sibling to their popular full-featured HD Log logging software that includes support for P2 media.

P2 Log is specifically designed to be used with the P2 video format and offers essential functionality needed for working with P2 media, including: play clips, delete clips, save P2 files, mark/select clips, export FCP XML, edit text and clip names, edit SD cards, find/replace, and sort. The software is being introduced at a very attractive price of just $99 and is available as a download. A demo is also available.

I just purchased P2 log. It works great! Only one problem. Everytime I load P2 log it always asks for the activation code. I have turned off the computer and re-booted but it always asks for the code. Not a problem if I have internet access, but.......

Yeah, That'll be tough if I'm out in the field and need to have internet access to run it every time I need to log some files. Hopefully it's a bug or something that can be fixed.

Must be, I e-mailed support and I am sure they are monitoring here.
Will let you all know what happens??......................................

Can we just clear up my question,
Will p2 log $99 let me work with 720p25/50 pal footage in fcp ?
Cheers

If you are having the activation problem where P2 Log asks for your serial number each time you launch it, then please download the installer again from our website.

Send me a message if you continue to have problems.

I'm trying the demo version (great app BTW)... One question, is it possible to allow letters in the 'Scene' field? Currently it only allows numbers, but if a clip was slated 12B tk 3, how would I name 12B in the 'scene' field? Is it possible to allow this, or is it a limitation of the MXF spec?

Dan Montgomery and Imagine Products...... thanks for listening to this forum..... as per
our email exchange I just ordered P2 log.

Ok, downloaded new build. It works. Only need to activate once. Very slick program, fast and responsive. Video playing from P2 can be full-screen and it is rock-soild. Better than the Panny P2 viewer for the PC. I felt blind working with the MAC, now I can see!!!
The only wierd thing is the clip speed. Clips shot 24pN one says 23.95 and another says 23.74??? No big deal. But thanks for your quick customer service!!

And another thing....
Just tried a P2 contents folder from a DVD. Also works. I get P2 info on DVD and sometimes the shooters don't remember if they shot 30p or 24pA in 1080.
In raylight I get info and the program knows if the clip was 1080 24pA, 30p or 24p
It would help if that kind of info was right in the boxes without having to open the pull-down each time.

Thanks

Mike

Fixed the frame rate issue and posted it (FPS is just a calculation and doesn't affect playback). Will look into adding a better display for media info. Thanks for the suggestion.
