New made c-mount lenses

1" will probably still vignette a lot, they're listing the format coverage as 12.8 x 9.6. The GH1 sensor is 18mm x 10mm.

Well, the FULL sensor is about 18x13mm, in a 4:3 aspect ratio. In video it uses the full width and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It doesn't use every pixel on the sensor, it skips or bins or whatever magic it does, but it does use the full field of view.

I wrote to 'em and asked; they say that the 25mm f/0.95 will cover an 18mm circle of illumination, so that's ALMOST enough to cover the GH1 frame, and it costs $225.

Cool. If they could widen the circle they are in a good position for a fast and neat m4/3 c-mount series:

25mm f/0.95
35mm f/1.4
50mm f/1.3
75mm f/1.3

But that's probably a lot harder than it sounds. Well, for those liking a slight vignette it's nice option already I suppose.

While it may sound dumb, if its close enough you always could just crop into the image. It might not be full 1080p video resolution but still great for web work.

The 35mm and up probably already work; most c-mount lenses (at least, all the 16mm film ones I have) that are 35mm or longer, provide full circle illumination.

The question is getting shorter than 35mm without vignetting; the 1" format seems to get us a bit closer.

I wonder what the image quality is like. Has anyone seen any test shots?

Some scenes/shots from "Slumdog Millionaire" were done with machine vision lenses, on a real 2/3" 1080p Bayer sensor camera.

Good enough for an Oscar winning performance and few millions spectators who didn't complain or asked for their money back.

Yes, but there's a big difference by an unknown brand and Linos Mevis-C machine vision lenses. Linos has been top of the line when it comes to machine vision lenses, and the Mevis-C line has been specifically designed for high resolution sensors.
I have a Linos Mevis-C lens set in the Buy&Sell section of the website, by the way. :cheesy: But that's beside the point.

Thanks for the info!

Still confused on this, though.

So when in video at 16:9 what size is the full sensor?

Thanks.

So I shoot 16mm on a Bolex. I have a Switar Preset f1.4 50mm macro lens that is really nice and covers super 16mm no problem. You telling me I can use this on a GH1? That would be so nice! I wouldn't have the breathing issues of my Zeiss. And it would just be cool. Am I right that I can use this lens, and there wouldn't be vignetting and I can to to infinity? Is there a consensus on a good solid, inexpensive c-mount adapter. I don't think I'd spend on the $250 one. Maybe under $100?

You could probably use that on your GH1, yes. Most c-mount lenses that are 35mm or longer seem to provide proper coverage.
