New IPad for monitor

Ha ha lol was just thinking about posting this. I am very dissapointed at this device. It has no inputs but it will have a propriatory wireless HDMI. So it's still possible? I am hoping so that would be quite sexy.

Thinking about the same thing too, posted it on Cinema5D.

Wondering if there's such a thing as a Dock to miniHDMI adapter. Here are the specs:

This would be an awesome monitor, mounting it would be awkward though.
Convenient tool for onset though.

Can't imagine why you would want this as opposed to a real monitor unless you could somehow get controls or something on screen? What advantage would this have over a SmallHD for instance?

Can't wait to see someone do this, it's fairly cheap for a monitor too.
and 10 hours of battery life? Yes please.

Well I'm sure an iPhone app developer or someone who knows Objective-C will see some money to be made here.

Isn't the resolution supposed to be all wonky? It's not going to display in true 16:9 ?

besides the darn EOS utility Function Could we Maybe have a True Uncompressed Solution for Capturing footage out of the 7d.. Id like to find that out as well.

Food for thought..

I'm guessing anyone wanting to know if it'll work plans to buy the iPad for other reasons than as a potential preview monitor, AND THEN try to use it as a monitor. At $500 and given the USB lag, it wouldn't make sense.

Funniest comments I've heard about the iPad yet were on a news radio program. The "tech reporter" basically asked, do we really need a 3rd device? We're all going to still have smart phones and laptops...hehe. Perhaps it will find a niche.

In trying to find an "articulating screen work around," I looked into using my iPod touch and the furthest I got was connecting via a VNC app to my Macbook Pro running the EOS Utility. Basically, I was getting about 1fps at best, probably less. It was a rather pointless exercise but fun nonetheless. Currently starting to look into entry level monitor options...

Yeah with a max horizontal resolution of 1024 it can't display a full 720p image. I still don't see why this would be any better than a real monitor? Just lots more complicated?

Isn't that what the Nano/laptop solutions do? Except the 7D doesn't output it's full-rez image. In addition comparisons between the captured supposedly "uncompressed" output and the version saved to the card were not very impressive. As I recall you really don't gain much if anything from that "uncompressed" output, especially since it isn't full-rez.

I hated the iPad when it came out... No I looked at if from a student and work point of view and it is amazing! Goodbye notebooks, course books, printed portfolio... Hello iPad!

I don't know, you get all that with the Kendal for a lot less. I'm not sure what market Apple is going after and I don't see the need to use it with the 7D.

In the event someone figures out how to get it to display the 7D really well, I guarantee Zacuto will make some display stand for it that will cost more than the iPad itself. Hehe.
