In the event someone figures out how to get it to display the 7D really well, I guarantee Zacuto will make some display stand for it that will cost more than the iPad itself. Hehe.

Could you control video recording remotely using the WFT-E5A?

I think you may be able to. I haven't read much about what type of controls the WFT-E5A gives you for video, most everything references stills - but the canon press release says this...

Photographers can fire up to 10 cameras simultaneously from across the room or across the country while maintaining control over camera settings and remote live view on a laptop or smart phone.

since the Ipad is a giant smart phone, it may work.

Well, you may be able to use skype -- I guess it's more of a giant Ipod touch. The OS is more of a smart phone OS though.

I'm not sure about a SIMM card, but it does have a SIM card. It doesn't look like the wireless transmitter will be of much use; the user manual suggests a slow screen refresh while using live view wirelessly. I guess I was too hopeful that a $700 wireless "transmitter" could accomplish the same task as a $20 wireless router.

the ipad can do nothing else than connect you to the AppleStore and sucks all your money. It has been designed for this, not even allowing to connect an usb key to add something to the device that is not coming from applestore channel.

That what I suspected...gotta keep w8ing on the right device that merges phone/gps/netbook/laptop. It'll happen.
