Hello there:

you can download there (60megs):

http://www.geocities.jp/sumi653/Sample.Video.wmv

Shoot Modes:

1)P2 Mode/1080/60i/HD Gamma/Dv Dubbing:

2) About 1.38 min. starts "Dv Tape Mode/60i/SD Norm Gamma".

It's from famous japanese "official fan site" called DVXFAN.

The Video is a SD/Sample Video. I've noticed that many people wanted to see the quality of SD mode to compare to DVX100.

Cheers:)

I don't know if it's the compression, or what, but for some reason that looks really videoish, like high contrast bleeding and blowouts, possibly too much detail? There was a lot of aliasing in it. I'm sure that's all from the compressor though, because everything else I've seen for sample footage has looked nearly flawless.

Thanks for the post though

Were they comparing DV footage to 1080i footage that was downconverted to DV tape? They should've gotten the same shots and bumped them up next to each other so we can easily see the differences.
I did like the pretty leaves though.

The compression looks horrible to me - since I have seen the footage in person at DVExpo, it doesnt even come close to this crap - what is with the silver/white pixel shimmers that popup all over the place - the latitude looks like a $500 dv camera. I think they messed up somewhere.

You "might" get an idea about exposure lattitude, but the examples are not good since there appears to be some heavy compression from their internet delivery file
and also has interlace artifacts.

Vegas reports the file as progressive, but it sure doesn't look it. I take someone screwed up when rendering it.

I did load it into Vegas and tried to deinterlace it. It did improve it, but the compression artifacts are way to overwhelming.
Also, whoever took the footage, put it in record and ran with it.
The exposure does screem video. I'm sure the interlace capture and the poor
exposure framing had a lot to do with that.

Face it, with cameras that don't have the larger lattitude, you don't frame 50% of your shot at the sky during mid day.

Our other current files available here, blow this away.

Steve

I don't like the quality too. But I've noticed that this japanese guy it's one of the first people authorised by Panasonic to share THE LOVE.
But it seems that he has shared THE HATE.
You know, japanese guys love hi-tech, so their benchmarks oughta be incredible!
But this case is very strange.
Consider that this short video oughta show the HIGH quality of Hvx200 to increase sells!
I wonder what Barry Green thinks about it, or Mikko because we all see kunfu footage, desert footage etc...they seems came from an another camera!
With this video that I've found it's like to back into the past! Do you imaginin' that you buy Hvx200 and...it makes this crappy video! It repeats over and over, it makes only a loop of this Japanese video at 320*??? over your shoot! It's like a curse!
I hope the quality of Hvx200 would be nice at least of first demo we have seen! After we have seen this, it's hard to believe that Hvx200 could be a good camera.
I hope that Sd mode working good as Hd!

Cheers!

??? You're joking , right? Maybe, I don't follow this?

Did you not notice that the sample video you posted was extremely compressed.
You can not conclude that this is the SD picture quality.
I can take the best quality video on the earth and turn it into crap in less than 1 minute by recompressing the piss out of it

regardless of the resolution - check out that lattitute. There must be a least 2 stops there - absolutely fantastic.... lol... ugh. it's horrid. granted the person behind the camera seems to have no idea how to compose shots in daylight - either that or he's deliberatly pushing the exposure.

I'm doubting whether it is even a HVX at all; my DVX would expose better than this!

perhaps the HD gamma setting crushes the whites! Regardless I'd like to completely disregard this piece of footage as it'll make me feel better. I got better exposed pictures from my VHS-C camera back in the 90's

Agreed.

No worries since we have seen some decent footage. The raw footage will look even better.

The official site is here: http://www.geocities.jp/sumi653/

The latitude in Sd mode is what I've seen strange too.
It seems that Hvx200 could be have a problem to resolve Sd latitude?
I've seen all the whites are very overexposed, could be the new ccd 1080p? I'm a bit worried about this problem, but it could be possible.

Stevet, Japanese site says it's SD quality video, but i can't understand the cause of this poor quality. Is the first video of Hvx200 in Sd mode, I'm worried that Hd sensor could be a problem for Sd latitude, resolution it's clearly for the web...but the latitude...could have some problem. Nobody have do a test with it.
In Italy I have noticed many people that have sell Dvx100 because interlaciated mode doesn't work, it has artifacts or problems. It only works good in progressive.
It could be the history will reapeat, now Sd mode in Hvx200 could have latitude problems.

I hope Barry Green give us some Sd video, or dumped by p2 to dv tape, so we can see what the new ccd do with whites colors and highlights.

Could be a sort of marketing trick of Panasonic thinking that nobody that want Hvx200 will use Sd capability, (they want to sell also dvx100b, do you remember?) so they can make this sort of "mistake".
They use a ccd incompatible with Sd latitude, it could be happen.
So you must buy also Dvx100b!

I hope we all live in a better world!
Cheers!

yeah, this isnt the best footage but after seeing that first video im not worries at all! it should be awesome. it probably comes out in a matter of days now!

I'll get something shot sooner rather than later. But as a quick spot-check, the time I put an HVX next to a DVX, the HVX looked almost exactly like the DVX, considering I hadn't taken the time to match them. But nobody would look at one and say that it looked substantially different from the other!

The video is also 60i, so that lends to the video look. He did not shoot in the 24p modes we are all so looking for.

It's the latitude in the clip that's the problem, not the framerate. I have serious doubts that it's really HVX footage.

Time to translate the DVX book into Japanese Barry? Anyway the prosumer cam market is pretty large here in good old Tokyo, Im going to check into this website a little further and see what I can dig up, lots of websites like this around the place.

This proves to me that there is no link between brains, and owning a HVX-200. At this time, lots of people ordered it, without beeing able to actually get it home. But a very few seemes to be the lucky ones who can. I'm just sorry that the ones who shot this, to demonstrate it's capabilities don't even know how to customize scenefiles/settings or compress it right. - And with these words said: I hate .WMA - It's by far the worst format I've ever touched. - I say: Go for .H264, MPEG4, or even DIVX before even considering using .WMA

I sleep bad at night thinking about feilds, and interlace lines.

oh @#@#@ !!!

it looks like HD10 footage...no lattitude at all...
what's happening ?
The image's texture looks so different from what i have seen from the HVX (WMA or H264)...
Does it REALLY come from the HVX ?
