GH4 New footage

4k scaled to 1080p looks better than my old FS100 and my current 5d3's h264 IMHO. Very impressive at this price point, I've used 5d2/3 h264 for a number of broadcast productions, looking forward to my camera shipping.

I used Panasonic Lenses, mostly 7-14 and 35-100 but also the 12-35.
Edited in prmeire. only closed highlights and added contrast in some shots, most of them are straight out of the Camera -
Cine V aith sharpness to -3

my contribution.

quick and dirty montage of behind the scenes footage i shot at work. i'm more used to shooting newsy footage with optimal settings in camera, so i'm new to the whole "shooting flat and adding contrast when grading" thing. in fact, this is the first time i've even used speedgrade so you'll have to tell me how i did. mostly went by eye and ignored the scopes lol. i threw in a whip pan transition to test the rolling shutter because that was the only rolling shutter test i could think of in a real world situation besides shooting propellers and moving trains. it's definitely there, and i can practically hear the looney tunes theme music every time i see that shot, but it might work as an aesthetic to some. *shrugs*

My trip in Sicilia, 15 days with the GH4 in this beautiful island (and Olympus 9-18mm, Voigtlander 25mm and Pana 35-100mm, all my bagpack here):

This was my first personal project with my new Panasonic GH4 camera. I have a bit of a learning curve ahead of me as my previous experience was only with camcorders. Lenses used were the Panasonic 14-45mm, 45-175mm and Olympus 60mm macro. Other equipment included the Benro S6 tripod and Glideshot jib. ISO 800 and 1600, standard and cine-v, all 0s.

Great video. Thanks.

Honestly, I don't think the difference in resolution and sharpness between the 2 camera's is as big as I thought. I mean, yea, when zooming in at 300% at a bunch of leaves there is noticable difference, but in most types of shots at 100% view I find them pretty even actually... Am I the only one who thinks this?

Yea the Panasonic GH4 promo video looked awesome at 4k on my 2560x1440 S-IPS monitor, but with those locations, helicopter shots and extreme use of sharpening, contrast and saturation, I'm pretty sure the GH3 would blow us away as well.

But in this video above, at 1080p as final output, I would call it pretty much even in terms of detail with a slight advantage to the GH4. It might be 4 times the resolution, but it is nowhere near 50% as much detailed.

Aaron's work with the GH4, especially his knowledge and ability with the Film Convert software, are really something unique and special. This latest video, The Bowler, is my favorite!
