New Firmware up on Pro.Sony.EU!!!!!

The focus check is awesome, haha, I've been zooming in with it focusing for like 30 minutes now. Also, switched to ISO as well.

Put my rig together with my 17-55 and went to town shooting a yard item
get constructed out of bamboo. Not bad really excited about the peaking
over HDMI. Only complant and I suppose it's just a nagging one is the
4x/8x zoom won't output over HDMI so I have to view the LCD to punch in.

Not a major deal just a minor thing. Everything else is working good. Anyone check
out sharing picture profiles? I recommend we get a post going for PP's and call it the
official post for them. I propose we label each PP and give it a breakdown. Possibly a picture
showing off it's strengths.

Anyone else getting error message when trying to download the files from EU? I did the search thing and it brought me to the two files availble for the FS100, but regardless which I get an erorr message and no file.
High traffic?

Nope just downloaded and updated mine! Although I wish I read about the picture profile erasing first:(

Ok I found out the reason... For any Danish guys like myself, if you're experiencing problems downloading and it seems you get bounced back and forth between sites, here's what you have to do.

Change your profile so it says you come from the UK and you live in fx London.
Then change the language on the top of the page to United Kingdom.

Now use the link on the first page of this thread, and then log in with you mail and password as usual.
dFor some reason, Sony will sent you to a shitty mini site if you come from Denmark. This site doesn't include the firmware files.... if you still try to get to the files via the link, you'll be send to the DK site anyways.
Guess their webprogrammers need to sharpen up a bit....

I keep getting error messages and can't get the firmware.....argh! There are a couple mirrors floating
around but they are all for the PC version and I'm on a Mac.

Yeah, I tried the change language and country thing, I was already registered there
(under a false place of residence obviously), because you had to register there to
view some BTS stuff that Phillip Bloom had posted. I wanted to see it, (as it was
good stuff about working with the FS100) so I registered there. I tried changing
the language and country and still kept getting the error messages when attempting
to download the firmware. However, your link worked absolutely great, so THANK YOU
for posting that!!! I am installing new firmware right now......

Frank, let us know if you think cinemagamma1 and 2 are different than before. I swear they did not look the same to me. By the way, your settings looked even better to me with the new firmware than before.

We **really** need a comprehensive picture profile thread. Who wants to make the monster effort to compile and maintain one? =)

I also got an error message, but when I hit "resume" in my download window (I´m on Opera) it resumes the download fine.

Yap. I heard some rumors through the grape wine, about undocumented changes in the gamma curves going on , but didn´t see that coming.
There are some big differences, from what I can see at a first glance.
I don´t have much time in the moment, but gonna do some tests on the weekend.
Looks like it was well worth to wait for the update.

Frank

Cool at last it as arrived!
After so much time I thought there would be more surprises like a slow motion update or something...

Wish i wasn't so busy but should do the update tonite.

The f3.5 is a shame, after all you can auto focus for stills at f2.8 (or whatever) using the same hardware.

I really don't see why, even if the AF accuracy is f3.5, you can't have your lens wider. I was under the impression that most AF points on most dSLRs are no more accurate than f2.8 anyway, even if you're at f1.4.

This is more for the push button AF, i don't like the idea it suddenly tweaks ISO and whatnot because what's the point? The AF is at the adapter before the sensor is involved. Why change anything - sounds like a bug to me because it thinks it's going to be doing CDAF (hence changing the sensor image)

I await more details on the gammas with interest.

Perhaps i can run some tests off before and after the update.

I assume there's no face tracking a la FS700 then?

cheers
Paul

I really like that the Zebra point is now shown on the histogram.

There's lots of little tweaks that didn't make the Sony list.

I loved the camera before the upgrade and love it the little bit more...

PS.

Instead of a Picture Profile thread what might be better is a technical discussion about what each parameter does and how best to use it accompanied by waveform plots. So instead of blindly following someone else who probably doesn't know anymore than you, you actually learn how to build your own profiles.

I just installed the firmware, and surely, something is wrong... after the reboot, I can't find the new NDS, and there is no option to go slower than 60p... WTF?!? this firmware wasn't supposed to turn my camera into an FS700? Am I missing something?
