New Firmware Out

Firmware Version 1.0.9 incorporates the following fixes.

  1. Improves AF accuracy during Live View shooting.
  2. Corrects a phenomenon where in rare instances, movie images shot by the camera may exhibit abnormal colors.
  3. Corrects a phenomenon that at certain timings, the shutter cannot be released when the camera’s built-in flash or an external Speedlite is used for shooting.
Firmware Version 1.0.9 is for cameras with firmware up to version 1.0.8. If the camera’s firmware is already version 1.0.9, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

2.Corrects a phenomenon where in rare instances, movie images shot by the camera may exhibit abnormal colors

is this the aliasing/moire fix anyone?????????????????????????

Lets hope a fellow dvxuser with a 7D can post his impressions on the firmware.

I personally would love to see improvements in the 720p mode...

Sounds like it, but I doubt it will be this dramatic :2vrolijk_08:

Or it could be referring to a bug similar to the 'blue shift' issue on the GH1.

I'm testing it right now. Hoping for improved 720p performance, but I doubt there will be a difference.

Printer I used is only really accurate to 600 lines. My opinion? Still needs lots of chroma blur to not be visible in actual shooting conditions.

What's your opinion vs older firmware? I do not own the camera, but can see that there's still some heavy aliasing artifacts while shooting this chart...

Well, even if this firmware doesn't improve much, its biggest value is that it opens doors for Hudson, the famous Magic Lantern 5D developer, to add all those features, like Zebras, audio monitoring, turning off the Auto audio gain, etc. All excelent features!

Sorry if this clogs the screen. I can change it to the thumbnail, but this shows what everyone wants to know in one screen.

This update requires a cf card reader?

edit: nvm, I read harder. I'm too sleepy to do this. :/

LOL, firmware updating is never recommended during drowsy hours. It's kinda like operating heavy machinery when on medication.
