Awesome! Lets hope this incorporates the knowledge gained from the auto focus hacks.

Maybe they'll fix the banding issue with the GH5s too?!
 
Yes, good to see. It will be interesting how much improvement is made. We have a pretty high bar these days.

I would like to see focal length and focus numbers on the displays. This information is in all digital cameras and it really helps to be able to see it when filming. Why it is not standard for prosumer grade on up is confusing to me.

This update is worthless if the GH5S's VFR noise is not addressed. Of course I'd like to have better autofocus, but I'm using my GH4 for any VFR work because of how bad the banding is in the GH5S!

I wouldn't say worthless but it definitely needs to be addressed. Good thing I have the GH5 which doesn't have that issue.

I guess that's true. I haven't used VFR frame rates which are 1080p only, but owning both cameras, the GH5s has beautiful 4k imagery.
 
Hmm... glad to see what is here... was hoping for more in terms of image control. Thought we might finally see a way to bypass the processing on noise, lens correction, sharpening, etc fully for a sort of quasi raw mode. I see they added a grain effect but that’s largely useless and doesn’t fix the core issue.

Also the GH5S noise issue with VFR, hopefully an unlisted fix

Glad to see the AF fix - that could be compelling.,.
 
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, make some kind of HDMI signal out DURING internal "6k" recording!
Just a 1920x1080 signal would be great, this would be used for monitoring, as a focus aide.

Yep, the Pocket 4K looks exciting btw. ;)
 
Nothing I wanted but nice to see they are updating. Next time maybe continuous indication of parameter values whether they are manual or auto ( shutter speed , iris and gain, nice little " a " in front if they are in auto ), Ability to access menus when in record mode. Improve app interface as mine drops occasionally to my phone but tablet stays fine. ?
 
Well auto focus seems to be on par with the G9 and GH5s now on the GH5. Also some new cool monochrome profile options.
 
Here is a video test I found just posted on the new firmware update and AF fix


One test I would have liked to have seen that is not there:

GH5 v2.0 @ 179 degrees (or lower) vs GH5 v2.3 @ 180 degrees. Just to compare if the fix is basically the same as the shutter speed hack, or improved further still.
