New compact Canon 4K video camera?

The problem with the X70 is that even though its sensor is 1" its maximum f-stop is f/2.8, which has the same depth of field as 135 at f/8.

Also I don't give a flip about 4K.

Finally, I don't want anything without global shutter. So wake me up when everybody finally starts making cameras with it again.

(I'm sorry my post is completely negative ;)

I would love to see this camera happen, but am skeptical. Why would Canon introduce a camera with better specs (in some ways) than the C100 at half the price?

I have owned and loved the Canon XF100 since May 2011, but just upgraded to the Sony X70. Coming from the XF to the X70, the 1 inch sensor *does* give shallower depth of field even at a smaller iris compared to the 1/3 inch in the XF, and the image is cleaner with much more usable gain. It's a great upgrade for only $2300. I also plan to do the 4K upgrade next year, mainly for the better detail when editing in 1080.

I think I'll keep the X70 instead of waiting for this rumored Canon :-)

C100 has an s35 sensor (28.2 mm diagonal).

Whatever this new Canon will be called (CES is a couple of weeks away), it's not going to have anything close to the same size. and is likely to range from 1/3" (6mm diagonally) to a 1" (16mm diagonally) tops.
