C500: New C-Camera (C700?) to compete with Arri Amira coming first week of September 2016

[Pascal Parvex]

According to Canon Rumors:

(The URL says CR2, but the headline is CR3).

So looks like no 8K Canon this year. But they say the new camera will have slightly more resolution than 4K. Maybe because it is compatible with anamorphic lenses. Claimed to have 15 stops of dynamic range.

Edit: Forget the part about the Amira, I misread the rumour.

Sounds awesome.
I think my hopes of a C100 MKIII towards the end of this year have faded though.
Maybe this is just an announcement and won't ship for a while, leaving the door open to sneak in a cheeky MKIII by Christmas.

Their 8K camera has been shown for about a year.
