New and old footage

disjecta

Lucky Duck
This is kinda my reel. Not in the traditional manner but whatever. Lots of shots here. About 5 minutes. Some seen before, most not. Mainly shot on XHA1 but also XLH1. Some with stock lens, some with Letus FE and Letus Extreme. A big mish mosh...best of disjecta.

I will not be posting a full rez version of this because it's just way too big and a pain...sorry.

Enjoy it and hire me:

Thanks to Phil Bloom for the inspiration to use the Village soundtrack (this is a placeholder until an original soundtrack is created).

Two words: Wow. Wow.

Steven, you've taught me more about composition, lighting, and capturing moments than my university ever will. Thanks.

Cannot wait for this to dowload. I'd hire you for anything if I could pay you.

Come get a job in Austin.

edit - stunning, as expected.

Outstanding and inspirational. Makes me want to get out and shoot. I owe it to my A1 to shoot something besides training vids and commercials. The music is very powerful and lends itself to the images beautifully. Thanks for sharing.

WOW!

This is truly inspirational - to think you can do all that with such low-cost video equipment. It really necessitates everybody step their game up.

Steven - you have a great eye for composition.

*I like the chemtrail shot at 1:48 ;)

Can I ask what you use in post for color correction?

Thanks for posting.

The best Cinematography reel I have seen Steven. Truly artistic shots, every one of them. Really enjoyed the pollen shots, I was sneezing just watching that. A lot of people dont have the eye for composing any shots that are on this reel. Cant say enough about it. Great Job!

not knocking film ,but after seeing this reel put together i must say that making quality projects that look like film is no longer beyond our reach.

yeah some great shots really filmic towards the end, really lke the sunset over the see and the very last shot of the kid with the sun

Hey Steven, the reel looks amazing. I have a question though if you don't mind me asking.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but It looks like you're using some type of small crane in a couple of your shots. Like a tripod crane, or maybe it's just a type of steady cam. I've been looking at various types of indie crane equipment and was curious as to which you used/preferred.

My favorite shot was the mountain as the camera moved from behind the trees.

Thanks guys, srfer, I am using a Kessler crane for just one shot, the rest is achieved by just tilting the tripod slowly.

The mountain dolly reveal shot was done in a carpark at Rainier National Park. I propped the camera up on the door of my car (the driver's side window was rolled down) on a steadybag, figured out the path I wanted and then drove the car really slowly. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. That is my favorite dolly maneuver :)

hmmm..... did you shoot Dances With Wolves??? great looking stuff man, it's motivating me to get off my butt and shoot my surroundings ( I just moved to 1 block from the ocean in San Diego from plain ol' Indianapolis and have yet to shoot anything!)

Wow my friend, I always bring your name up when discussing favorite cinematographers and that reel is exactly why. You're my favorite Steven, I look forward to working with you one day.

For those who haven't seen it, I highly recommend disjecta's Water's Edge DVD. It is incredibly beautiful. Actually worth MORE that I had to pay for it. The music that complements the gorgeous cinematography is pretty incredible, too.
