'Negative Image' - Darkline Entertainment

Glad to see you could cut it. Im sure theres going to be some eye candy to look forward to.

Thanks guys. Im just waiting on the score and I can upload it.

Actually now that I rewatch it, it works fine, and some scenes are better than in my longer version. So I may snip my final version down a bit further. It's always an interesting exercise getting your film to 6 mins. I started with 'impossible' and it's amazing how much fluff you can chop. How many redundant shots you have.

Anyway I think my version going forward will be somewhere between the two, say 9-10 mins. I have scenes to put back in!

Grabs after my up load I promise.

so I have 1.5 hours to upload but no score yet...

my teeth are literally chattering

Would someone please think of the children!!!!

waaaaa. Just got uploaded with 7 mins to spare. Never cut it that close before! Unfortunately the composer just didn't have time to score it, he was trying his best, but I only gave him a few days and he's very busy.

So I spent the last 30 mins just trying to find a copyright free track I could use. it isnt perfect, but it'll do...

In the lap of the mods.

grabs now.....

This was great! As expected. :)
Haven't watched them all yet but I'm betting this one will be in the top 3 for sure. It's very polished.

My only minor gripe with your entry is that it seems like a supernatural carbon copy of Broadcast. One actor, narration, sweet SFX, etc...
But if it works, why change it? I get it.

I would just love to see something with interaction between actors from you some day. Not just one actor reacting to what's not there.

That aside, probably the highest rating I'll hand out in this Fest. Really great work.

Wow, this one was great! It even had a sin, stealing.

And what a location, I believe that is half the battle in stuff like this. Great FX. No complaints at all.

I hear you Mike. Briefly, this is two issues. Confidence, and capacity. If you look at my body of work you'll see Halfway : one man trapped in a basement. Eddie Loves You : One man in a house with a teddy. No Presents for Paul :One man in a white room. Vacuum :One man in a house with a vacuum cleaner (apart from a flashback with a woman). Broadcast, Negative image... blah blah. It's always one actor versus whatever with few exceptions... That's just me writing to what I know I can cope with logistically. On this film there was just me on crew for the asylum, in the darkroom I had the help of John.

So I KNOW I have to expand, but I'm sure that means having a larger crew too. I've spent years writing events that need little dialogue simply because I thought it was good training as a director, and also inconvenienced as little people as possible.

Anyway, next time I will be working with multiple actors I hope, I know its the next step in developing for me. I agree with you 100% here.

but thanks for the confidence vote. I'm just glad you liked it.

10 Stars! Everything was spot on. I didnt know how you were gonna top broadcast, but I do now. Great job darkline.

Thanks Rich, to hear comments like this sends me high. I was SO nervous about how this would be received and this makes me feel like the hard work was worth it. thanks so much...

One of the best for any fest I've seen. Excellent work! Excellent!

Thanks Brandon, that's high praise and I'm so happy you like it. Thanks for the support. :-)

The location is a story for another time. But lets say this was not easy! lol. Glad you liked it.

Awesome work man!

Thanks John, Happy day here!

That's quite a history. I wasn't aware it went that far back. I would love to see your previous works.

You have more than enough talent so tell your confidence to shove it! :)
Get a good script, some talented actors, and make a Feature. You're ready. This was an awesome film.

Well done.

Darkline, top marks. Solid from start to finish. A true thriller.

I agree. I thought it was absolutely beautiful work...better than a lot of Hollywood stuff even (yep I said it). I felt as though I'd just been given the keys to a candy store. The building reminded me of the asylum in the movie "Session 9" (which I loved). I really loved the opening as well, it was classic.
