Hi everyone I want start off by saying I LOVE THIS FORUM its so helpful, and really appreciate everyones input. So I finally broke down and bought the 7D :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG), I was going to wait for the scarlet but it looks like that could take awhile. So I know this is the most redundant question in the world but... I would like your input on theses lenses. So I would like a tokina 11-16 but I can't find one anywhere right now so that one will have to wait. So after a allot of looking the tamron 17-50 with vc seems to be a great option it seems to cover a pretty good range on the wider side. So I've heard great things about old Nikon AI lenses so I did some looking on ebay and they seem to be cheap and easy to find and so far I like the Nikon 50mm 1.8 AI (this one) and then the next step up would be to get an 85mm so I like (this one). With all of those I think I would cover the majority of the ranges I use, I was hoping to use mostly primes because I prefer that style of shooting and to me they seem to be much sharper overall than alot of zooms. Well thats what I was thinking let me know what you think. Thanks!

oh and heres a video done using all nikon ai primes:

I have the Tamron 17-50 vc and it's a good picture quality, but the lens is weak mechanically -- loose focus and very short focus throw.

Personally, I would buy Canon lenses over ones that use an adapter. I have the Canon ef 50mm f1.4 and it is a really good lens. Optically it's incredible and the mechanics are good and it's pretty cheap. With non-adapter lenses you get auto focus for stills ( a huge plus IMO), a better interface with the camera, infinity focus and it just works nicer. I have a Nikon with a Cinevate adapter and it works probably as good as any adapter, but the native lenses just work better overall.

I've only heard good things about the ef 85mm canon. go to www.photozone.de They have the most thorough lens reviews.

Good luck! Shooting with the 7D is pure joy. So much fun. On my last project, I shot with a 16mm Eclair ACL, and to go from that to the 7D is just unbelievable freedom.
