i shot a b-day party in 30p squeeze mode on my dvx 100a. i wanna go to dvd, what timeline is best to edit in with the smoothest motion, 60i or 24p?

thanks in advance

The DVX records 30p over 60i, so it's really a 60i stream. You can edit as standard DV. Just be sure to flag your footage (and your project) as anamorphic. Set your field dominance to "none" and you'll be fine.

def not 24p. 60i should essentially double each frame.

No; as C2V said, the 30p is recorded to tape in a 60i stream. What happens is that each 30p frame is split into two 60i fields (lower and upper) and treated for all intents and purposes as though it was 60i all along. So, when it's on a 60i timeline, the sequence merely takes the field sequence as-is from the tape.

Unless you do something to upset the field order, you will never see a difference on any 29.97 timeline. It'll always look and act like 30p.
