NBA Playoffs Thread

Can the Spurs bounce back from 0-2?

The Hornets are making them look old and tired.

Charles Barkley says the Hornets "Are just better."

Chris Paul is awesome. What is he like 5'7"? The ball looks like a beach ball when he has it. Doesn't he know he's too small to play in the NBA?

yeah Hudson, I was at that Lakers game when Horry hit the 3 at the buzzer. Everyone in the building jumped up but me. It was devastating.

I think it's so funny when people make the argument that the Spurs are old. The oldest teams always win the chamionship. I think in the Bulls last 4 championships, they were the oldest team in the league. Same with Houston after them. Go back and check it out. Most champions are in the top 5 oldest in the league.

I still think the Spurs will win the series (now down 0-2). So far they're mirroring the regular season, which is the home team won easily every time. So they'll win 2 at home. And then comes that 5th game, which is always tight. And the Spurs will find a way to squeak it out.

Game. Set. Match. (to bring up a tennis reference Hudson - just think, we're a few weeks away from the French Open and bringing up old arguments on if Federer is the best ever).

I wouldn't count the Spurs out although history and 0 - 2 has a bad track record.

Celtics Cavs tonight; I love Lebron but want to Boston to win in case Lakers advance; I don't think Laker's can take the Celts.

.

I wouldn't say that. Teams that win titles usually feature players in their prime. Like the Shaq/Kobe Lakers, Duncan's teams, The heat had Shaq right at the end of his peak, Magic's Lakers stopped winning titles when Magic got old, Even the Bulls, Pippen was young and Jordan was an anomaly--even with the Wizards he was capable of 40 point nights. Pistons were in the prime when they beat the Lakers. Akeem's rockets? They weren't old either. Regarding the Spurs, not smart to count them out, maybe they just don't match up against the Hornets.

The game pisses me off

Everytime Utah made a run, getting to within 6, 8 points, the refs would make some non cal on Utahs end and then some what the eff ever call on the Lakers end.

43 FT attempts by the Lakers. Jeeeeeeeez.

Lakers haven't been tested yet. I am waiting for somebody to knock the smiles off their faces.

Conference Finals perhaps?

Maybe the Utah home crowd will alter the Lakers officiating bias in this round, and give them a little jolt of confidence. I am not holding my breath though.

NBA officiating is the wost in any sport at any level. I wish they'd call the game the same for every player; a fouls a fouls a foul.

I'm still scarred from Game 6 Lakers / Kings when Shaq did whatever he wanted and the mice swallowed their whistles.

You guys are looking at this through your anti laker sunglasses.

Shaq routinely had three guys hanging all over him, they'd never call it. I'm not talking hack-a-shaq, just plain muggings. So what's a ref supposed to do? He's getting mugged, so he backs guys down. Impossible to call, so typically the refs let them play it out.

Regarding Utah, they are #1 in the NBA in fouls. #1. It's not the refs, it's Jerry Sloan basketball. He was a hatchetman as a player, and his teams have always followed suit.

You guys just can't face the fact that the Lakers are good and have the best player in Kobe and that Spaniard is brilliant too. Tell me how many teams pass as well as the Lakers? The Hornets and Celtics are the only teams in their class.

Speaking of beating up Shaq, don't forget Kobe threw him under a bus.

The Mamba lived up to his nickname when he ratted out O'Neal's infidelities to the media when he was on trial for rape to make himself look better.

The NBA, its fantastic!!!

It's amazing what money will do for someone.

Lakers are indeed a great team, were and are now.

I still call it like I see it and if you can't admit there isn't officiating bias in the NBA, then what up ?

Shaq has gotten away with murder his entire career and his career coming to an end sooner than later is great. I'm not talking about when he is actually getting fouled.

If you watched that game I'm referring too, you'd know they got robbed hard by the officials.

I despise the NBA refs. It takes away from the integrity of the sport at times.

But yes, Lakers are a great team. I don't wear goggles, unlike Lakers Fans

LOL

Laker fan here, I'll admit refs cater to certain players, just like they did to Jordan back in his day. I remember getting so pissed off when MJ would take 3 steps on his way to an acrobatic layup, but the refs hardly ever called a travel on him.

In my eyes the Lakers are due after all the MJ no-calls (and losing to the bulls).

And you can't say the Jazz aren't a bunch of hacks - most fouls of any team! Couple that with the most dominating offensive player and you're going to get a bunch of fouls because they simply can't stop Kobe.

I was a fan of the Bulls on the second 3 and confess there were times when I was like "hmmmmmmmmmm."

Remember that famous game winner in the finals with MJ? I think it was against Reggie Miller, Jordan just flung him away. So blatant. But a no-call.

Shaq was always an interesting story. I swear on every play down low three guys would foul him and he'd foul them. wrestling.

Pacers never played Bulls in Finals, they are both Eastern Conference. It was the conference finals in 98 I believe. Oh yeah, you have it reversed it was Reggie Miller who pushed off on Jordan before hitting the 3 at the end of regulation.

The game you are thinking was with Byron Russell in the Finals against the Jazz. Jordan pushed off with his hand against a jabbing Russell to win the championship. Jordan was so quick that sometimes you couldn't tell he was doing it. Amazing.

I am from Chicago, so I should now. I watched every game.

That's it. The Jazz. I stand corrected sir!

Oh boy, Laker game tonight!

I bet the officials call about half the fouls, but the Jazz are even rougher. Home court advantage...

Go Lakers!

I wanted Bynum back so bad for the playoffs, alas, we'll see him dominate next season. Anyone know what kind of contract we have on Gasol? Is he here next season? I haven't heard anything on locks next year. Anyway, I want to see CP/Bryant match-up so bad I can taste it. Then I want to put the smack down on the three horsemen in chowda town! Anyone else think Farmar is the second coming of Christ? I love that kid (big UCLA fan) and expect (demand) huge things from him next year.
