NBA Playoffs Thread

I sure am!

As you know, the Hornets called Oklahoma City home for the last two seasons and I was part of the camera crew for their home games during that time. I operated the "chase" camera on about 80 NBA games during that time. I had a blast and was able to watch several big names come and play against our "adopted" team.

Once, as I was walking out to the production truck, I opened the door and Shaq was standing there about to walk in. I had to tilt my head waaay back to see his face as he is just that freaking huge when he's standing only two feet away.

Anyhow, Chris Paul is an awesome player and an equally awesome person who did many good things for our community while here. Suffice to say, I'm a fan.

dang, I'm jealous. How hard is it to marvel at the game when you're actually working?

Huh ?

You're blaming Nash ?

This series could have gone either way and it aint his fault

Game 1

25 Points, 13 Assists

Game 2

23 Points, 10 Assists

Game 3

9 and 7

Game 4

15 and 4

you know who else puts up big numbers? AI and Melo....he may put up big numbers, but hes a choke artist and will never win a championship...because he's not a champion. When the games on the line, he's the scariest guy to watch......for a SUNS fan. hahaha

Damnit Janet.

I just wrote this long ass post defending the stance on Nash and playoff games and the site acted all weird on me.

Do your own homework

The playoff links will give you all you need to know in Nash's performances in playoff gmaes and in particular deciding games.

The problem with sports debates in most people are wearing the goggles and not looking at the facts. Last nights game was not a great showing by any stretch, but previous years games speak for themself.

-

The suns need either a dominant big man or a killer 2 guard and they'll be complete. Shaq isn't the answer; too slow for their game.

the maxim "Defense wins championships" gets proven over and over again in every sport at every level. Ask the Patriots for the latest proof. The Suns and their now ex-coach always had other ideas. Just look at the Spurs, they're the most dreary team to watch, sometimes they can NOT score, but they play defense and win titles.

It's too bad Nash has past his prime, he'll never get better than what he is now....and will end up being one of those great point guards who never won a championship. Stockton, Kidd, and yes Steve Nash.

Tell you what, if Steve Nash ever does win a championship, I'll print off this entire thread and eat my words! :)

I concur, steve nash will never win a championship and if dallas don't get no better help Dirk will never win a championship.

Yep now we can get a real i quote real coach and get a couple of young players on the team and I'm predicting next year Dallas all the way. (cowboys this year) Rashad evans To win against Chuck Liddell and also I don't know who to go for now since dallas out, I hope san antonio don't do nothing let's see clevelend, boston, Lakers, New Orleans (since they put us out)

well I got to say Dallas somehow is gonna win every game against the hornets (if not we need to fire the coach) and we're gonna be the lakers in 7 and we match up the best with the spurs and we're gonna beat them in 7 and play the cavaliers and beat them in 6. (let us pray)

I said it damnit

There definitly are some question aspects to Kobe's charactor. However, he is considered a strong favorite for MVP this year. The MVP award not only factors in talent, but leadership. As a player I love Kobe, and while he has always had a reputation as a whiney selfish player, this seasons Kobe has shown alot more maturity and leadership on the court then in previous years. He deserves the MVP title.

That's not too daring of a wager is it ?

Look at all the great players to never win the big one.

He's easily Top 3 PG's in the game today. Who's better ? Paul ? Williams ?

At 34 he's averaged

16.9 ppg and 11.1 apg

Shooting

.504 from the field <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< sick
.470 from beyond <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< sicker
.906 from the line <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< sickest

You are correct, he should hang up his laces. He's washed up.

sure those are impressive numbers....like I said AI and Melo can do the same and look at how many titles they've won....

Bottom line, Nash is not a champion and never will be. When the pressures on he can't cope, when big plays are needed he turns the ball over and makes all around bad choices. You can argue all you want about his big numbers and all that jazz and blame the Sun's shortcomings on his teammates....but if he was truly a winner, a champion then he'd have a title already. The Suns organization has done more than enough to put together a winning supporting cast for Nash, he failed as a leader and as a winner. Picture this, if Kobe and Nash switched places I'm pretty sure it'd be an entirely different story for the Suns. The fact is Nash isn't in Kobe's league, not even close.

Michael, Magic and Bird won a bunch of titles, and those teams would not have won them without those stars.

If Nash was at their level he'd have one by now....but he doesn't and he won't. Only truly great players win championships.

This is that point in the conversation that reminds me why I stay out of sports forums.

John your not up for arguing endlessly for 60+ pages? That sounds like fun.

Yeah, it's probably unfair. Barkley never won a title but he was a great player. I don't think Jordan would've won anything without a Scottie Pippen. Last I cgecked it's a team game.

On the other hand, the great ones always step up when it counts. Nash didn't do that against the Spurs. The game was on the wire and Nash didn't come through.

giving up that easy old boy?

I must be getting old.

No no no

My spin is that Nash is a stud, which most would agree with. His statistics speak for themself not too mention previous years playoff moments. Judge him by the other nights game ?

It's not like we're saying he's Jordan caliber. But one of the best point guards to play the game no doubt.

I'm telling you, get this guy a legit big man or a 2 guard guard threat than can score inside and out ?

They'd be scary.

-

But we're also talking about the West. The West is crazy good. It isn't like the Suns and Nash are playing a bunch of schleps; Spurs, Lakers, Mavs, Nugs, Rockets and Jazz ? Even the 7th and 8th seeds won 50 games this year.

That series EASILY could have gone both another way:

Gm. 1: SAS 117, PHX 115
Gm. 2: SAS 102, PHX 96
Gm. 3: SAS 115, PHX 99
Gm. 4:PHX 105, SAS 86
Gm. 5:SAS 92, PHX 87

Nash is a stud but has any point guard ever carried a Champion other than Magic and Thomas ?

But even Magic had Kareem not too mention homeboy was 6' 9". He even started at center when Kareem went down !

=

All I'm saying is, someone's gotta win and someone's gotta lose in sports; to say Nash is a betch and lacks cred is either talking out your ass or just plain ignorant of the game of basketball.

Nash not winning a championship has everything to do with the defense of the Suns...not the offense.

He is an all-time great PG because he revitalized the NBA with his playing style and won 2 MVP's because of it.

Nash's greatness is hard to measure 'cause he makes the speed he plays at seem easy. His body control and stamina is ridiculous.

Name one point guard who could have filled his duties in the Suns's offense over the last 3-4 years and had them running on all those cylinders without having it collapse?

The defense is what kills the conversation with Nash. His size and petite body frame make it real difficult for him to excel defensively today's NBA.
