Native Editing of Canon Footage in CS5

amazing! great to hear, it will probably be some time before i make the leap to cs5, I'll want 100% assurance it will work on my set up, and I'm kind of holding out till resolve comes out too, as I will be castrating my apple pro apps acceleration if i dump my ATI card for NVIDIA now. But it's good to hear that it's rock solid, and now round tripping anywhere and everywhere is easy :)

Yes, Adobe has no Mercury support for ATI GPU's, which seems just crazy to me. In any case, Adobe, "In the future", may release OpenGL support in Premiere to work with ATI GPU's. However, when that ATI OpenGL support will happen, and how much improvement in RT processing we will see, will be some time before we all know?

I went the 285. I think for most people the performance boost of the 285 is enough that they will think its awesome. Being able to drop a colour corrector on a 720/50p H.264 on a Core 2 Duo and have it play straight away is still something that shocks me.

What about the nVidia GeForce GTX 260 Special Edition 1,8 GB? Would that be a far inferior card when compared to a 285 in that RT environment?

Please let me know,
T

The GTX 260 is not supported by the Mercury Playback Engine, which is what's responsible for the unprecedented RT performance that he's been raving. So unfortunately, you will not be able to see anywhere near that level of speed. The list of compatible video cards was posted earlier in this thread. There are only five, and only one of those five is not a Quadro card.

Am I reading nvidia site correctly? On the gtx 285 you can have a dual monitor system and output to a hdtv (through hdmi dongle) at the same time?
