7D native editing cs5 and using technicolor lut

Is there any benefit in aplying the technicolor lut on original 7d files(recorded with technicolor profile) directly inported in the cs5 timeline ?

As I asked on the other thread, why would you use the technicolor profile WITHOUT using the LUT? (or at least using a good guess on the curve yourself) The profile without the curves just look horrible.

Yes i have tried it and it works pefectly simple with lutbuddy (see the
Technicolor CinemaStyle: Best Practices thread )

The result is more or less wat you would get with the in camera neutral profile.

My question is . that because you're now still in the h264 compression mode, do you still get better dynamic range in the color spectrum? as opposed to the in camera neutral profile.

True, after the LUT is applied in AE that you get what you would from a neutral setting. The key is that the "negative" is different and contains more shadow detail among other things, with the h.264 compression applied.

The camera uses a "picture profile" anyways when you're shooting and recording. This is the best "picture style" to use to capture detail and tones with the Canons. A neutral setting won't give you that detail the techincolor profile will.

Whether or not you use the LUT provided is up to you. It's a little contrasty for me, but is a nice place to start for some. Does that help you with your questions?
