Can't remember now - the camera was still brand new at that time - but considering how often it asks for performing APR at boot time, I probably did (always obey those prompts) ...
Indeed - what I'm about to do is recreate similar camera settings for exactly the same scene, and:
- record it internally (XAVC-I), at slightly various exposure settings, to try and capture the amount of overexposure which triggers the Blue channel clipping
- record it simultaneously to my Inferno (which I didn't have at the time of this clip's recording), to check whether the phenomena are still present in DNxHR and/or RAW CDNG
If the DNxHR encoding is clean, I'll at least be able to assume there's nothing wrong with my FS7 - and for very demanding quality shooting, I'll start using my Inferno with FS7 as well (I originally bought it with my B-cams in mind)...
If you look in DaVinci Resolve nothing in your image exceeds 704 code value. There is most certainly nothing clipped in your image even though at a glance a subtle flat line on the blue channel would make you think this. After grading I was able to pull some data out of the flatness of that line (subtle clouds) so again nothing appears clipped..
You can try bracketing your exposure but I don't think this will make any difference whatsoever.
