GH4 Narrative footage on GH4

I'm working on something, but it is just a hobby and about 6 months behind on the edit now.

Quite honestly I wouldn't call either of these examples "narratives". That's a different thread though. Although I know there are true narratives out there shot on the GH4, they are rarer than I would like. Have you browsed through the Panasonic GHx group on Vimeo?

at Sabi, we have two features in the can, and a second we're shooting in a couple months. can't release any footage yet though. :(

About 40% of the following reel is GH4 narrative stuff (the rest is Red One and Epic). Heading into a feature film with two GH4 cameras next week. I'm sure there are plenty more people using them for narrative work :)

HTH!

Cheers,

Paul :)

Here is a teaser for our upcoming feature-length (no-budget) psychological thriller, "Something Horrible".
Shot on GH4, mostly using a Shogun for 10Bit 4K. Some shots, like the opening, were recorded internally.
Lenses used were the Sigma 18-35 w/ speedbooster, and an old FD Vivitar 70-150.

Really nice skin tones, do you happen to remember what settings were used?

This was shot the same day I got the camera over a year ago now. All I did was flatten it out. Much flatter than I do now. My colorist is brilliant. I know it was cine d -5 for everything except tone stayed normal. I might have had the crazy -5,+5 thing going on for the shadows and highlights. I don't know why people have trouble with the skin tones on GH4, because so much of it is lighting. People often forget that the environment effects skin tones.

The funny part is that watching it again, the skin tones are really cold and green. ahahahahah. This color grade is pretty extreme if you saw the raw files you wouldn't recognize it.

Trailer for just finished film. A-cam GH4. B-cam LX100.

Let me plug this as there are those interested how this cam looks on the big screen. So we finally scheduled a screening for this film on Oct. 8 in the Angelika Film Center in Dallas. Inviting those in the area to come and support. Sure would be glad to answer technical, creative and whatever questions about using the GH4 and LX100 in this film during the Q&A.
