NAB 2019 rumors (and releases)

I forgot I watched the Slypod-video, it is really cool but not for me. Seems like too much work to make it "stable" which sorts of defeats its own purpose with Monopods, to have them light, fast and simple...

The Shark Slider nano I missed and that seems to tick the boxes I need now. I can wait until early fall for it.

Basically what I'm looking for is a repeatable motion slider, with focus control also repeatable, somewhat compact (3-6 Feet track), mainly for product shots but also VFX because of the repeatability, and a price tag around 500$. Eventually I can go for a 2000-3000$ kit but for now a more basic is good enough. So it is nice to see that the price and features are trickling down.

What’s with the bullish-t prank posts? There’s plenty of people who come to these forums for real info and who will be confused and then pissed off to be led astray by misinformation about companies that were NOT at NAB and silky stretched on frames that are diffusion, not lights themselves. A lot of people can’t get to Las Vegas and depend on resources like DVXuser to get real information. This is a place for professionals.
It’s pretty incredible, isn’t it? I thought the same thing, at first.

The Guys at the booth were very helpful in explaining the loght to me. It was a “light bulb” moment. Love the possibilities.

I didn't see any coverage of Gimbals, and very few dolly/sliders from the regular sites like NFS, Cinema5D, redshark, etc... Were there no new systems or firmwares introduced? Only thing I saw something about was the emotimo Dana dolly... So if someone saw something new, or has any links, please share some info.

Not a lot on the gimbal front to report on this time around. PilotFly and Feiyu had new gimbals to show (there's a write upon Red Shark about Feiyu), but even that wasn't available yet, and Gudsen's Moza Air-X still wasn't there. And PilotFly's main new thing was the handles with suspensions, which might not even have been new -- that could have been around for a while and I just didn't know about it until I saw it at NAB, I'm not sure.

I thought the Mole 20k looked super impressive, I've seen their 10k and it's impressive too. They're a bit tricky to place though. At $18,000 for the 10k and $40,000 for the 20k, the actual need to run them off house-power seems highly unlikely on the productions that will actually be able to afford to use them.

At which point, what are you actually gaining from them? A real 10k or 20k would be vastly cheaper to rent, and if you've got a generator there anyway - the power's not really the issue.
The Mole-Richardson 1600W Tener LED (Daylight) currently sells for $10,045.00 on B&H, so I'm surprised the new Mole Tener Bi-color with integrated ballast is $8k more, and the 3000w daylight only one which is a bit less than twice the power, is four times the price.

I'd imagine the 3000w Tener would be similar or perhaps a bit brighter than an M40 which costs $16k, so HMI seems like the cheaper and lower weight route to go.

Luma Touch, shame they only did an iOS version. Android and Chromebook would put them in line for testing in a class we are developing.

For those craft minded, here's a high CRI 1.5kW LED COB module, only $1350

Holy!

I like the potential of these “large” 1-point source lights. Seems like one can get really clean stark shadows with a hint of smoothness. Will have to test them out.

Might have to be a bit larger than the module in your link, but obviously these highoutput LED’s have a much larger source surface area to begin with.

That’s a shame. Hydrogen users might have enjoyed it.

The Sumire lenses look great on full frame, i am interested to see how they perform on s35, or even ASP-H.

Why then don't you give professionals the 'information'?

You have been 'there' (both at NAB and CD).

?

First off, I’m pretty busy during NAB week. As in exhaustingly busy day & night. Second there’s a lot of good info already being shared, and I look to see if I have more to contribute or clarify on the products I represent. Third, it’s not my place to comment on the goings on at other companies as that is both rude and possibly ill-informed. Fourth, I give tons of info where and when appropriate. 6300+ posts and ten of those little squares under my name should count for something.

I don’t have time to be on DVXuser constantly, but when I do I tried to post substantive comments. One thing I sure don’t do is post about a company at a trade show when that company is not at that trade show. That stuff just confuses and misleads people.

Mitch, you might want to take a closer look at the frame on the left. You also might want to apologise to James.

I had to look twice too BTW..

Wow, OK color me stupid and ashamed. James I apologize. I had seen some speculative posts about other products elsewhere with dumb jokes that confused people and I wrongfully assumed the worst here. I am sorry and that light does indeed look impressive.

I’m surprised there isn’t more talk of the Tilta Nucleus-N here on DVXuser. A sub-$300 wireless follow focus that works well and is refined in its build is the sort of product I would think to be of interest here. I was pretty impressed with it.

At some point, anyone with enough boxes can say anything and receive the holy up arrow.

You - Mitch Gross - are extremely helpful (especially in your CD days, IMO), but you could just say 'pastrami' and get at least 10 helpful clicks, ha.

Or puredrifting could say something like, "Yesterday we were shooting a documentary in space..." and grab a few.

The system is flawed; many people here deserve more boxes.

Hi Mitch!

Yeah, i was glad Marivinhello, Liam, and jcs were quick to bring links and information. Definitely warmed the heart too!

Thanks for your comments.

Soo.... can we clarify CD situation? ;)

They were there or not?
Are they slowly bleeding out?
No new products, no new upgrades, CD Twitter looks empty with the last post dated October 2018...
Something doesn't look right

They were not exhibiting.

I thought i saw a banner, but might have been a dealer’s booth, or i misread the banner.
Me saying they were there is an easy way to misunderstanding.

Vocas was not an exhibitor either, but their products were on display at a few booths. So ‘being there’ is not how i should have phrased it.
