My HMC150 is here, quality control?

this thread is useless without pictures.

It's starting to take on a vendor rant post rather than an unfortunate incident of receiving used product as new.. Whatever is the case, I hope everything works out for you Manolo.

I just want to assure you that they do have a store, its a block or two from the empire state building.

I'm looking at my cam as I type this and I too have the circles on the base plate there.... that's normal since (as someone earlier stated) the metal is not polished.

There are some very sketchy dealers on the internet although most have the habit of opening the box and selling you the contents piece by piece. This is why you might come across a HMC150 for something like $2200. They sell you the cam for that price but if you want the power cord, the battery, the remote, book, and whatever else is in the box then you will end up paying over $4000. For peoples knowledge (and if I shouldn't be posting this let me know and ill edit my post but I think people should know) Broadway Photo is well known for doing this scam.

I really wonder how much wear and tear there would be.
With no moving parts I think we'll need to rethink counters and such...

I mean unless someone just bangs their camera around any 150 with hundreds of hours should still be like new.

If the 150 is built to the same quality specs as the DVX100, then it potentially could last magnitudes longer...

I'm sending the avccam back, this store told, Bob told me that for them to send me another right away, I would have to remove my negative feedback from amazon, so I'm not going to remove my negative feedback.
This 2 guys in Willoghbys made me felt that I was dealing with two "mafiosos" , their names are Bob and Michael, I CAN NOT BELEIVE how they do bussiness.

I'm just catching the tail end of this discussion, but if Willoughby's does business like this, then I'm glad I didn't go that route. I was really close to it.

I'm glad I'm waiting for B&H. If I'm waiting on supply from B&H then I know I'm getting fresh product. It's like having to "pull forward" and wait at a McDonalds (or other fast food joint).
It stinks that you have to wait but at least you know you're getting fresh hot food. :D

I ordered my first one from B&H, and when it arrived, it was double boxed just like everyone says. But, both boxes had been opened and re-taped shut. I was suspicious, but continued opening and saw that the inner bag the camera is in was previously opened too. Fortunately, the hours counter said 0 hours. So, I thought it might be harmless. Well, turns out that camera was defective and I ended up sending it back to B&H. Been waiting for 15 days for a replacement now.

But, as of this afternoon, my order number now says "Processing" instead of "On Backorder", so hopefully they got some in and mine is shipping soon. Just my luck, it's a website glitch :-(

Very frustrating! I'm very annoyed at B&H for sending me a previously opened box, although I'm sure it's not their fault the camera was defective. Given that I have ordered from them hundreds of times with no previous problems at all, and the return process was incredibly easy without any hassle, I'm still a faithful customer.

It's all a matter of luck at times.
Top rated companies can unknowingly sell a lemon or a dud.

I've never really had an issue with B and H either but I think it's a good thing when people talk about these things good or bad.

DShallenberger:

That's a bit of a bummer about your first camera. But B&H always gladly accepts returns and makes things right.

The way the HMC-150 is boxed, and having an hour meter, there is no way to hide if the camera has been un-boxed for whatever reason.

On a positive note, you should be getting a fresh one with the latest firmware.

It seems a few peoples firmware updates have gone awry, which toasts the camera.
