My Footage From this Sexy Camera.

hi karen, i liked it a lot. I read your settings and i'm just curious if you change the pixel ratio to square or just leave it at 720X480 to get that 16:9 look. I tried different settings but i can't seem to get a perfect 16:9 like what you did here. thanks.

Thanks. I shot in "stretch" mode..and i made a project in FCP that was HD 720 (1280X720) and I just rendered it to that...Anamorphic HD.

Thanks for taking the time to watch it

I really like your work Karen; it's so artistic and refreshing. Looking forward to your next one!

wow that looks amazing. What are your settings and workflow?

Thanks a lot.

as for my workflow:

I shot in 4:3 stretch...then I brought the footage into FCP under 23.97(whatever number, i can't remember right this second...) Pulldown. After that I made a sequence in HD 1280X720 anamorphic. After that I go through and put the clips i want to use in an arbitrary order on the timeline and i let it render (4:3-HD 16:9)..it takes a long long long time. After that is all rendered...i then edit it to how I want it to be and cut it up within the timeline...then i render it again because it gets unrendered when some clips overlap. After that I render it all...then i spend a couple hours color correcting each clip. Then i let it render again. Then I export it as a MPEG-4 under HD settings 1280X720 with a bitrate of 3000Kbps. ( I don't know why there are black bars..oh well).

After that it's a little over 100MBs.

To get it under that, I use Sorenson Squeeze and use the Md.Quicktime compressor and it looks just as good but smaller..for sites like Youtube, Myspace, and Virb.

Color correction makes me so happy..almost as happy as shooting....you shouldve seen the original footage...blech...bleck bleck!!!

really fresh! it really look like some shoots to keep for your showreel ;) the natural lighting is great & the cc also.

Awesome video! Very original, i really enjoyed it. Does running SD 720x480 Squeezed on a 1080x 720 timeline really do anything? Well i guess that is a stupid question because it seems as if you are very knowledgeable with video, so i guess the better question is how does running SD footage on a HD timeline affect the footage?

I'm sure when you watch it on a full res HD tv..there will be deterioration in quality because you are blowing it up so big..but I know there is a way to do that without compromising the quality.

The reason why i made it "HD" is because when you upload anything onto vimeo as 1280 or more..it registers as "HD" and the quality is significantly better ..and larger than SD.

So i did it mostly to cater to vimeo but its worth a try for other things..but I wouldn't rely on it completely.

Cheers!

Karen
