My First Doc

Well... tomorrow is the big day! The first day of shooting my first documentary! I am planning on shooting in squeeze mode and in progressive, but should I shoot in 30p, 24p, or 24pA? I am more lenient towards 24p, but since this is going to air on TV, I am assuming 24pA right? I honestly don't know the difference between the two. If someone could tell me the difference or point me in the direction of a thread with that answer, it would be greatly appreciated!

kinda confusing but look at both colsely. 24pa is better

I thought you had Barry's book?

Well basically 24p is for editing on a 29.97 timeline
24pa is for editing on 23.97 timeline

if you know in advance that you're going to shoot all kinds of frame rate like 60i, 30p, or 24p then shooting in 24p. it's better because you are going to mix and match all that in the same timeline.

but if you know for sure you are going to shoot 24p all the way, then go for 24pa.
it slightly gives you a more 24 frame look.

if you are going to shoot a Documentary, then shoot in 24p
you will want to shoot in 60i later (documentarys are shot in 60i mostly)

Good luck for the shoot!

yeah then shoot in 30p
you can always shoot 60i or 24p later if you want to. (or even 24pa)

you're the artist, don't make me limite your options.
