thanks you for your time
Chris

The most important thing is that you actually document the event. If you want trouble-free documentation, put the scene file dial on "FLUO" and put the auto/manual switch on "auto". Then just record it -- or, better yet, put it on a tripod in the corner, let it record, and you get out from behind the camera and hold your wife's hand during the delivery, instead of stressing about how to make the camera record properly.

congrats Chris. You are in for the ride of your life.

I can no longer give any good advice on the DVX because it's been a long time since I've had it, but I'll let you in on a little parenting secret that I've learned over 4 years of two kids and gigs of footage....even if the footage is less than professional you will use it and value it just the same. I think my son's first bath and solid food was shot in a dark house on 24p with auto settings and it was just fine.

I just lost all of my footage on one drive while trying to back everything up to raids and then had to go back in and recover it. Now, 4 years of footage sits on three drives in a mess. When I pull up even the grainiest, I'm happy to have it.

Just put it on auto and go for it.

Good luck,

Jason

EIDT: Barry beat me to the same idea of auto while I was rambling:) Welcome to one very special forum.

Awesome! and yeah I completely agree with the others here, the first few times you use the camera, especially if it's your first camera with a good set of manual controls, you're going to love that AUTO function. If you need help finding it, it's right underneath the "3CCD" logo.

Also check this tutorial out, very helpful for newbies!

just press the AUTO button and help your wife with your support, do not waste time with setting the camera and framing the shoots !!!
