It's the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS Mark II. Matte Box and new Rail setup is on the way.

Basically the sexiest thing Canon has ever made....next to the 7D :D

The 7D is one of the ugliest cameras ever made IMO. Up there with their G line and their superzoom point and shoots.

That lens is pretty nice but....

Nikon builds the nicest looking lenses hands down, the Canon 5D has got to be the sexiest SLR body I've ever seen though, manages to match the brute force look of the Nikon bodies but still maintain some sleek lines.

Oh anyway, back on topic...

Congrats on the lens, exciting stuff. I fast telephoto zooms like that for narratives because you can just easily and quickly set up for a lot of your coverage without swapping lenses. I shot basically a whole scene, except for maybe two shots, on a Nikon 80-200mm on my GH1. Just move around the room (big one), point, and shoot.

What prompted you to buy it? What are you gonna use it for? Exciting :)

Also post pics when you get your mattebox...mattebox on the end of that thing is gonna look hilarious.

Did the lens come with a tripod collar? You probably shouldn't have it putting that stress on your mount, even with the follow focus there. Did you order new rails because these were too short for the mattebox? If so, you could mount the lens on a tripod collar, move the body behind the rails, and, judging by the photos, have room for a mattebox.

I'll post more pictures soon. Right now, I removed the gear as the FF works without the gear. I also setup the tripod mount that surprising works with my rail tripod plate.

Congratulations Taky - very sweet.

Truly love Canon glass.

Gotta admit Ben B has a point - Nikon's definitely got the better paint job.

I personally don't like the milky color of the canon lens. however, i think they did a good job in branding it. I posted my photos on facebook and it's being recognized by a lot of photographer friends right away.

You said it.

I've switched back and forth between Canon and Nikon... was on Nikon the longest and spent the most $ on it (until now)... and the white Canon lens is synonymous with "pro".

It doesn't matter what you think of the value... as soon as people see that you have instant cred. I've got a cousin who shoots "only Nikon"... total "Nikon snob", as it were, and my reply (since I have both)... is "I'm more of a good picture guy".

I don't really care what you use... OR what I use, but I do think that lens is beautiful... and I'm a little jealous. I'm sure you have some great images coming soon.

In my opinion, it's an interested phenomenon in the wedding business. I know how capable of the video quality of the T2i. But it's still an entry level camera that I use at a paid job. I got a lot of new leads and new clients at weddings. If the bride's uncle is using a better camera than me, it won't make me look good. so I need to pimp my rig.

Now with this distinctive L-Lens, others won't notice I'm using a T2i.. hehe

Taky, are you using this setup in conjunction with you A1 and HV30's? Or did you ditch the HV30's?? I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with using this lens setup.
