My 1st serious shoot- Some grabs

G'day folks, did my 1st serious shoot today. I have a paid wedding coming up in September and today I did a pre wedding shooting with the couple that will be used at the start of the DVD I produce for them. We shot in two locations, first was at a local botanical garden reserve near my house and second location was at the beach. I shot interviews with both parties and random shot of them together. Interviews I shot in 25p and used the f3 setting spark. All other shots were 50i with f3 setting and 1/120th shutter so I can create some slo mo stuff. I manually white balanced for each shot and mainly used auto iris except when the sun was not behind a cloud and my DVX told me 1/64 ND and it was still at f11 or so.

Anyway, I have made a series of grabs that are CC'd AE with magic bullet and used different settings on each series to try and get a feel for the colors needed for this kind of shoot.
Hope you like them, feel free to bag the crap out of me but i'm still a newbie with this DVX.

damn that looks pretty sweet. i like the first four the most, but i dont know if that would be best for a wedding. the ones with all the blue sky looks good for a wedding

I don't really like the colorcorrection you applied there.. Too soft and the colors seem off..

Sometimes the colors just need some contrast and gamma boost :)

I like 2, 4 the last one and and the one above the last one, Congratulations to them both.

These are nicely done in contrast and color; a sort of Miamish vibe

The faces are a little hot on some of them though; was this a product of post adjustment or incamera ?

I'd try and shoot (pun) for no more than 80 IRE on facial highlights.

Lol, yes yes I know, but hey I had lots of fun experimenting, I had my DVX for a couple of months and still only put 5 tapes through it, these I call are the "warm up days", just getting the feel of this baby,,, my second wife that is.
Also I did mention that I showed these to the couple to be just to get a feel for what they might or might not like and to also show them what the cam and some processing can achieve.
I haven't begun editing yet, the whole piece I would think will be no longer than 8 mins, come CC time I will envite them around for some more serious input.
