Music Video Shot with the HV20

I like the look. A few questions...

- Did you use any 35mm adaptor or is this shot straight 24p?

- What lights did you use?

- And was there any other shutter or manual changes you adjusted to get this look?

I am debating on buying a HV40 and want to make sure it has a good look.

Thanks and good work.

Thanks, Young Gun! I appreciate the compliment.

To answer your questions:

No, I did not use an adapter--I kinda grew out of them. There are a lot of compromises you have to make in order to make them work for you, and I just did not have the time, crew or disposition, anymore. I did use a soft edges effect in post to give it a sort of shallow/dof adapter look in a few shots.

As far a lights, this was a true, low budget video--china balls with household bulbs, DJ Lights, Home Depot clamp lights, and even a string of Christmas lights.

No special settings in camera--used the standard cine mode, 24fps and 1/48 shutter. But in post, Magic Bullet Looks really helped with the final look.

I'm not sure what advantages/upgrades the HV40 has over the HV20, but I'm sure either one will give you a good base for your images. 24p HD can only take you so far--lighting and composition will really make your work stand out. People cannot believe I shot this with the tiny HV!
