T2i Music Video of Lose Yourself acoustic cover

Hey guys, so my friend asked me to shoot a simple video of him singing this cover. I was thinking we were gonna make a full edit with a bunch of cuts and different shots, but he just wanted one shot. so after several takes, we finally got a clean run through. My arm was shaking so bad from the weight of the glidecam, but i thinks its still pretty smooth haha. Let me know what you guys think filming wise, i tried to make the video part as interesting as possible while only using one shot. I didn't do the sound.Shot on:
T2i + 17-40L + Glidecam 2000 pro

Also, if you like it, please share Joel's music! He's become pretty popular here (grove city college). I think he's got a lot of talent, and a chance at making it someday. i'll put more links in for his other youtube videos.

One more thing, this is my first thread and second post. i have been a longtime lurker and am part of a couple other forums for both sports and photo/video. Glad to finally start posting here!

Thanks!

Why use the glidecam if you're not going anywhere? I would have liked to see the version with takes and editing.
i was all set to make a standard music video (as ive done before) with multiple shots using my tripod and slider, but he already had the idea of me just having one complete moving shot. I was just helping him out, so i just said ok man it's your video, whatever you want.

but ya i really would have liked to have gotten more shots, as it was a really neat location with lots of possibilities. next time....
Thanks for the post tho!

That's some shaky Glidecam work, to the point that it looks almost like plain handheld work.

I like the location. The background is very nice. It does make for a very poor sound environment.

How was the sound recorded, by the way? Obviously not on-cam mic, because it doesn't change as the camera moves in and out. It's too saturated with the reflections of the location, and the starlings in the background are a little distracting. There's a reason most music videos are shot to pre-recorded (studio) sound.

While it was what your friend asked for, it would have been much more polished as an edited piece... and the Glidecam is not quite balanced.

I totally agree with you about making a polished edit. Not trying to make excuses, but it was actually my first time using the glidecam, and needless to say im still learning. my first try looked a lot better when my arm wasnt shaking so much haha. i was planning to use my tripod, but when he said moving shots, i picked up my glidecam and did my best to balance it in 5 min. given the circumstances, i was pretty happy with the result.

The sound i didnt have too much to do with, my buddies were using a boom mic (not sure of the model) with a deadcat. when we listened to the sound and the birds came in, they loved it! i wasn't really a fan haha. but like i said, its his video, he already had it planned out, i just did what i was told. But when i loaded the track from the ext mic into vegas, it sounded so bad, and my internal mic sounded soo good! So i actually ended up mixing the two. I know it doesnt sound great (i am a big critic of sound quality), but given what we started with im pretty happy.

Once again i greatly appreciate all your guys feedback! Thank you for the support!
