Moza offered to refund the purchase of new batteries. Had to order an $89 DJI battery to sell the Ronin-M, so did some research and found Samsung INR18650 30Q cells (4, button top, 15A max) for $24 for the Moza Air 2. Manual states INR18650D250 and found this: http://www.portapower.com/index.php/products_info/index/c_id/33/product_id/37143. Emailed Moza to get the max current needed, they replied: 10A, so the 15A Samsungs should be OK. Moza will begin selling 4 LG's for $49 (on B&H pre-sale). The original batteries appear to be a kind of raised flat top at 67mm length. The flat tops are 65mm, and most appear recessed (so won't work). The button top Samsungs are flat tops with a button top welded on and match the ~67mm originals. Also ordered a set of ATK protected cells with a 10A limit (68mm length). Will know if the issue was batteries or gimbal soon
When power is working, the gimbal works really well, so worth the effort to figure this out.
While the DJI and similar batteries are a black box, there's a lot of interesting info on battery capacity, current ratings, and chemical makeup for the 18650 batteries: https://www.18650batterystore.com/Best-18650-Battery-Guide-s/142.htm , https://batterybro.com/blogs/18650-.../18880255-battery-chemistry-finally-explained
4.2v is what the 18650 should produce after charging, down to 2.75v at cut-off (Amprobe meter was accurate).
Really appreciate the reliability of original Canon, Sony, and Panasonic camera batteries! It's the Wild West out there in powering everything else (though third party Sony NPF batteries have been OK).
