Movie dialogue that should be retired.

I'd have a lot more respect for a scene wherein the leader tells his guys that Well, they have overwhelming numbers and we're gonna die like pigs - but let's take a bunch of 'em with us!

Of course this may be why I am rarely invited to deliver the inspirational pre-battle address.

"They want to (kill/rape/maim or insert other bad thing here) you, I'm here to save your sorry ass" I used that line in my current script and was like, "No, say something else." LOL.

"It's not a matter of if... PREGNANT PAUSE ... but when."
Not sure if this appears that much in movies but the science community in docos love this one... and it gives me the sh%ts. Especially how almost everyone that uses it seems to think they might have just coined the most valuable phrase ever!

"...do the math" i hate this phrase more than anything else. it and "don't you die on me" were both in the last episode of true blood. come on writers, you're better than that.

bwhahaha!

LOOOOOOOOL

What in the sweet ****?!

I just choked on my own drool laughing.

What about real-world cliches', like "save it for the field/game" or "hang on!" when someone is in peril (unless followed by Roger Moore declaring, "The thought had occurred to me. . . "

Or how about the cliche' of hating Crusade just because everyone knows it is a kick-butt film and you want to be the voice of dissent =P

But seriously, the one thing that annoys me more than most of this is seeing from a camera's perspective when you have autofocus points and a light meter and exposure and the rest all there on the screen.... and it is ALL wrong. Wrong camera, impossible settings, ect. AGHAHA! A graphics department HAS to make that... they have to spend hours making it... why not do it right!?!?

You don't hack computers by using GUI interfaces. Loading bars on computers in movies are never anything like loading bars in the real world.

DNA testing takes days. It just does. That is where we are at with science at this point in time. Stop getting DNA results in less than 2 days. We know you're full of lies.

'Who do you think you are" - not that common... but I believe the only time people use a line like that in the real world is if they learned to converse by watching movies...

and my number one pet peeve of movie and tv show dialogue stupidity - "Einstein said the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over, expecting different resluts." Firstly - annoying to say. We have all heard it to death. Secondly.... Einstein didn't say it. Stop perpetuating fail. It was actually said by a lesbian african-american author. Since it is said on a bunch of Fox shows... it makes me giggle to think they are quoting a black lesbian... since Fox is ... you know, fox. Anyway, give Rita Mae Brown her due credit, k-thnx-bye.

=)

i'll reiterate a word from a previous post of mine....the word "Look"...when trying to explain something. i have never heard anyone say this as a preamble to any explanation in real life, ever.

NOOOOOOOOOO !

and one that got retired from old Martial Arts movies : dramatic and then with a flick of the head says : "but still"....
