1. Should I buy the DVX100B from Amazon for $2,649.95? or the Panasonic site for $2,995.00? I know it's a stupid question, but I thought I'd ask.

2. Also, would this MacBock Pro be great to edit with? Would it render video without making a lot of noise, and would it freeze up like most PC's do?

3. What all does the DVX100B come with? Does it come with a shot gun mic?

Thanks, you guys have been great.

I'd recommend looking at this thread on authorized dealers: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=12269

Personally, I recommend B & H Photo - I bought all my stuff from them. The camera does not come with any additional accessories (except for a battery/power charger, strap, remote) You will need to purchase the mic separately. Check the audio forums for recommendations.

The MacBook should be fine, though my preference is using a desktop system. What will you be editing with? (Final Cut Pro?) That may drive your decision.

I've been a PC guy for a long time and switched to a Mac this year. If my PC ever froze (rarely), it was most likely a software problem.

Having said that -- I've never had a problem with my Mac Pro :)

Yes if you are going to buy a 100b new go with B&H

Opinions will vary, but my thought is that Premiere Pro 2 is easier to learn then FCP. Of course, I am a PC guy (altho I have wondered about making the switch...) and I cant get away from Adobe's line up.
I too would recommend a desktop over a notebook, but then again if you do alot of stuff on the road a notebook may be more practical.

Good luck!

It really depends on if you want new or used. I bought mine used and it's perfect.

Keep in mind a lot of people buy these and only use them a year or so(if that) before they upgrade to an HD camera of some sort, so there's a lot of mint used ones out there that you can get for a little less than a new one and often they come with accessories(mics, tripods etc) that you won't get with a new one.

BEWARE: Of A LOT Of these electronic companies. There are TONS of shady electronic dealers out there that will try to bait and switch you or upsell the hellout of you. - Personally, if I were buying used, i'd prefer to go with an individual dealer who took good care of the camera and knows it well rather than some shady dealer. Be careful with those dealers who aren't panasonic authorized. Be real careful.
