MiracleBabies

Hi--

Here's a short I just made to help promote MiracleBabies--a new charity starting up here in Southern California to support parents with babies in the NICU.

I used my Canon 7D for the shoot, and really enjoyed it. The small camera was a real asset for this shoot--helping to keep it low-key and intimate, rather than camera gear-centric. Reminds me of shooting with my Aaton.

Hope you enjoy--

Thank you both for the kind words. I really love how this camera has broken down some barriers for me. I was a committed film guy for a long time, but I have to admit that being able to do something like this for no money is pretty awesome.

Loved this. Very professional

What lenses did you shoot with? Loved the bokeh in some of those close ups.

Thanks for the comments. I've now posted the second video in the series. A darker story, relating to the same subject.

I definitely felt honored by the trust my interview subject placed in me, and inspired by her courage in the face of tragedy. On a technical note for this forum, I find that using a small camera like the 7D is really helpful in approaching a sensitive real-person project like this.

Thanks! I appreciate the kind words. I have to say, the 7D is the first digital camera I've used that makes me happy like my old Aaton A-minima did.

I Just watched all four videos and wow, those are extremely touching. Well cut and well shot. A couple microjitter shots, but nothing so distracting that I was pulled out of the story. I have nieces and a nephew and one that was just born a couple months ago.

Sounds like a great organization and you did all these stories justice.

Congrats,

Kegan

Thanks for the kind words, Kegan. I appreciate you watching them and taking the time to comment. I know what you mean about the jitter--it's definitely a trick to keep these cameras steady. I might need to invest in some sort of handheld rig for the future.

Great job man! I worked in the NICU before I got into entertainment and you did an amazing job capturing the emotional spaces. My wife is a NICU nurse and this is so inspiring, I'm gonna have to let her and her co-workers check it out.

Why did we not see the mom speaking at all. Whie i loved th shots and the edit you need to establish who is talking. Just my thoughts
