Mir 24 on 7D

Some times ago I read the nice thread on this forum about the vintage lenses.
I'm thinking to buy a Mir 24, as I like that particular look.
The question is: does exist one only model about the Mir 24? Basically what I mean is: any risk I can buy a Mir 24 and no luck to mount it on the 7D?

By the way, I forgot what was the adapter I do need to mount it on 7D, is it the M42?
If so, I've found a bunch of it on Amazon, one is the Fotodiox for about $12, another Fotodiox is about %25, kinda difficult understand what's the difference. Also there are other a bit more expensive with the AF confirmation but somewhere I've read that they can damage the camera... help! :)
 
The Mir 24 35 2.0 lens is a good lens. It is useable from wide open and focuses to almost macro distance.
Depending on the mount of the lens you buy, you have to get the corresponding adapter. If it is an M42 mount (check the eBay listing of the lens or ask the seller) you should buy an M42 to EOS adapter. Be careful to choose an adapter with no back flange, otherwise you risk not being able to put the lens close enough to the sensor to ensure infinity focus.
I would avoid adapters with focus confirmation after a terrible experience with flickering (check my last clip on my vimeo signature) with such adaptor, but maybe it was the particular adaptor that was crappy, I have an OM to EOS adapter with focus confirm that doesn't have any flickering.
 
The Mir 24 that I have came with two interchangeable mounts (Nikon/M42). Both work fine with adapters. Agree with comments that this is a great lens.

About the Mount I usually see something like "MC Mir 24" or "MIR 24N" with Nikon Mount. Sometimes it says "+M42 Ring".

@ kostas: is the clip you're talking about "4 minutes in Budapest"? Nice video! what camera have you used? all shot with the Mir? it looks cool.

@argo: so your lenses had the Nikon mount and the M42 mount. What adapter are you using then to mount on the Canon?

dsp_418: I prefer the Nikon mount (seems sturdier than the M42). I purchased generic adapters on ebay. If you go the M42 route, make sure to order an adapter w/o a back flange, as kostas says (and have this confirmed). Pictures of adapters on ebay can be misleading (I once ordered one pictured w/o a flange and was sent one with a flange).
 
dsp_418: Both adapters you refer to have the back flange (or "enlarged lip" in Fotodiox terminology) and won't work properly with the MIR (or a range of other lenses - my SMC Takumar 50mm f1.4 also requires an adapter sans back flange/lip). You need to find one w/o the back flange/lip.

Yes I am talking about this clip. No Mir there only a Super Takumar 50 1.4 for the night shots. But this M42 to EOS adapter flickers with every single lens I have. At that time was the only one I had.
The clip was shot on the 550d/t2i.
