miniDV deck

I need to output my footage from my HMC150 to miniDV tapes for the local news outlets. Does anyone know of an affordable miniDV deck that I can purchase? I've been told to buy the Panasonic DV2500, but that's about four or five times what I thought I would have to spend.

I only need to output using the composite jacks in the front of the camera. Nothing for heavy usage and nothing high-def.

My other alternative is to import to the computer and burn a DVD, but rendering would take more time than bumping to tape.

Just get a Mini DV Camcorder with FW I use the canon zr series. You can pick them up used for a couple hundred or less. Better yet, you might know someone that has one.

The HMC doesn't have FW, not sure what you are proposing here Jim? I have a similar problem to modus, but so far I've resorted to carrying on with my canon xm2 for certain shoots

On many cameras you can do a composite RCA in and record to MiniDV that way.

I guess I'm confused. If you can't export to a camcorder, how do you plan to output to a deck?

Can't you dump the footage onto your computer from the card, then export via FW to a mini DVD camcorder?

Thanks for the ideas, guys.

The HMC doesn't have firewire (the one area in which I believe the camera falls behind). I was hoping to skip the computer due to the slow importing process of AVCHD files. If I'm going to spend more than $300 or $400 on a deck or cheap camera, I may as well just upgrade my whole computer instead.

I was hoping to be able to plug into a deck and bump out a few clips for the last-minute occasions when news producers ask me for footage 10 minutes before air. If I have to render these in the computer it may not be fast enough.

It is possible to play video streams from the camera from the composite, component or hdmi jacks.
