Miami Heat in NBA Playoffs! Bring it on Mavs (and Heat Haters!)

Usually my thoughts, but last night (tues) he was obviously hurtin, and the team pulled through and kept it a tight game. You gotta give Barea some props, wether he's a top scorer or not, he makes stuff happen. Marion's a workhorse when he needs to me also. Stevenson... well... I dunno... he shoots every time he gets the damn ball, often when he should pass it along, but then outta nowhere he hits a few three's and makes me feel different about him.

Yeah, Barea plays the point like Bibby- a facilitator, make things happen.
Though occasionally (way too occasionally) Bibby's 3 is working.

Stevenson's sorta like the Heat's Chalmers- shoot/miss, shoot/miss, shoot/make it.
My dialogue for Chalmers: "I never met a shot I didn't like to try..."
Then again, Chalmers can get in a 3 point groove sometimes.

I'm sooo relieved my afternoon shoot today will wrap at 6 instead of 8:30, even though it'll cost me!!!

With the Heat's on/off approach to 4th quarters, I think they'll win Games 5 and 7.
Should be intense tonight! Go HEAT!!!

I've got to go on record and get this off my chest. As I said before, I'm pulling for the Heat, but Lebron James is pissing me off. I've never been a Lebron fan. Too many comparisons to MJ and Kobe and he's the best and all that BS. My brother is a huge LJ fan, but what makes me upset to no end is the excuses people keep making for this guy. Physically he may be the most gifted player in the league, but that's far from making you the best player. I've been watching him like a hawk since he came in the league and saw all of his weaknesses right away. Initially his jump shot was questionable and he didn't have the killer instinct you need to be the best to EVER do it. He still doesn't have the killer instinct. He is a great player, but not the best ever! Not even the best player in the league, let alone this series. You'd have to give that nod to Dirk and D Wade. Here's the deal, Lebron keeps having people making excuses for his bad play. Bottom line, 8 points is not good enough in the NBA Finals for a great player, let alone a player that is continually labled the best. If you do have 8 points, you better have 15 rebounds and 12 assists along with the game winner.

Lebron (and my brother), stop making excuses, step up and stop being a punk!! Win or go home!!

I do, however, feel like he'll have a great game tonight though. I just think we need to stop calling him the best.

I gotta say that I'm glad Kidd showed up tonight! Not the biggest name out there by far, but he's been impressing me since he was in OKC (sans last game).

Like the cockroach I'll still be hear when everyone is done scorching the Earth ! Let's Go Heat !!:kali::kali::kali::violent5::violent5::violent5::-Laugh(DBG)-1:-Laugh(DBG)-1:-Laugh(DBG)-1

Let's bet a RED Scarlet on it or whatever the hell the name of the camera RED keeps touting. You know, the one that's been coming out for what 5 years now ? I figure even if we lose that I'd be dead and gone before they produce the camera. lol..:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

Well, I thought Lebron would have good game, but alas, wrong again!!! Can I get him to play like a champion, please???

OOHHHHHHHH MAN! that was a good game. At least thats what my hangover tells me. Sunday should be interesting.

I feel your pain, Marlon!

But while LB didn't score 25+ he did score a triple double in an NBA Finals game, nothing to sneeze at!
(4th quarter, that's another story...)

17 pts, 10 assists, 10 rebounds. That's a textbook complete game, and what Magic was referring to in comparing LB to Jordan (LB the complete player, Jordan the shooter).

Sure I wish he'd scored Dirk's 29, but Nowitzki only had 3 assists and 6 rebounds.
Six rebounds
for a 7 footer? C'mon...

Bosh had 10 rebounds (and a double-double with 19 points).

And (just like some beg to differ with the LB/Jordan comparison), this is why many disagree with the Nowitzki/Bird comparison- Bird was a complete player the likes of we'll never see again.

Now if LeBron's "complete game" will only include the 4th quarter...

milksac- good one :Drogar-Thinking(DBG

I don't know about punk move- more like irreverent sense of humor, a common occurrence on these very forums?
(And no, I'm no apologist for All Things Heat. That's my take, I'd call 'em punks if I felt they were).

Yes, greatness goes beyond the stats, of course.

But at the same time, some things go unnoticed til you see the numbers.
And, obviously, greatness is more than just scoring, true?

That's the beauty of the game- there's many, many aspects to the game. And I've always admired the complete players (call me old school?).

For the record- I don't put LB in the category of Greats, not yet, at least. Time will tell on that one.

D-Wade is my fave (along with former Heat great turned Heat exec Alonzo Mourning), always will be.
And I think Wade has a bit of greatness in him. Plus I love Haslem's toughness.

It's just very strange how the Heat goes cold (ha ha) in the 4th... LB's playing more more minutes (and has all year) than anybody on the court, but his conditioning is supposed to be the best, bar none.

I was listening to the 1st quarter on the radio driving back from a shoot last night, and heard an extreme statement that I think is true- that Lebron is the most scrutinized figure in the history of sports.

Even with all the excess on sports radio, I think that's true. Nobody has been under the sort of scrutiny that he has this season.
Maybe it's affecting his game, maybe not. But it's probably true (media-wise).

Looking forward (still) to Game 6!

I feel what you're saying, Grove, but that triple double is BS. He's a 6'8, 265 pound point guard playing 40+ minutes. Getting assists and rebounds is not that difficult a feat, especially if you're the most athletic guy on the court.

These games come down to the 4th quarter. When the Mavs need a bucket really bad, the team depends on it's superstar. That's Dirk. He's been unstoppable in the 4th. The Heat had an ailing D Wade and so it was LeBron's responsibility to close out the game. You have to outplay the other team's superstar down the stretch or you will not win.

LeBron is a superstar and he is supposed to be the best player on the "planet." I don't think he has the heart or killer instinct to be that guy. Now, if we're talking about the best player in the league, wouldn't you expect for that person's statistics to be at least better than what he did in the regular season or at least better than the other players on his own team??

Great players go above and beyond. D Wade is playing well, Dirk is having the series of his life and the best player, LeBron, is. . .well, struggling to say the least.

Now, talking about Mike being a shooter and LeBron being a more complete player is not accurate at all. They play different positions. The thing about Mike was that he did whatever it took for his team to win. You can't take away the fact that he scored alot of points and dismiss it. In the finals, you need to score.

Dirk is not a big rebounder or an assist guy. He should average more rebounds and blocks (I agree), but he is carrying his team on his back and doing what they need him to do. When they have a lull and can't score, they go to him and what does he do? He scores and gives his team a lift and boost in confidence that gives them the faith and belief to be able close out the game.

Think of it in terms of war. You have two sides about to fight. Your leader goes out first and gets knocked on his a**. Now, does that give you confidence that you're going to win the war or does it make you feel like maybe you guys aren't ready? Now switch that around. Your leader and best fighter goes out and beats their best fighter's a**. How much confidence does that give your side? Alot, I'd say.

Hey, maybe this is too much pressure for him. So, let's start small and see if he can work his way up. We can start by seeing if he can just get his regular season average - in one game.

Oh, in addition to him having a sucky offensive game, his defense also sucked. J Terry went off on him. How embarrassing. I'm embarrassed for him.

Sorry, but I've been telling my brother about LeBron's lack of killer instinct for years and now that I'm pulling for a team that he's on, it's come back to bite me in the arse full circle! LOL!!

Some good points Marlon. Maybe I'm looking at the glass as half full...

And now for some comic relief (involving, no surprise... Barkley!)
South Floridians might want to avoid going to South Beach for a few days after the NBA Finals for fear of burning a mental image into their brains that could scar them for life.
Miami Herald columnist and radio personality Dan Le Batard challenged Hall of Fame basketball player Charles Barkley to a disturbing bet.

LeBatard interviewed Barkley, a personal friend, during his drive-time radio show on 790 The Ticket before Thursday’s Game 5 and civil discourse quickly dissolved.

Le Batard and Barkley agreed that if the Mavericks lose the Finals, Barkley will wear a Speedo on South Beach while being interviewed on the radio show.
If the Heat loses, Le Batard will wear the Speedo.

Either way, beachgoers lose.

Barkley, who is a basketball analyst for TNT, has been critical of the Heat throughout the postseason. On Wednesday, Barkley said on a different radio show that he was rooting for the Mavericks to beat the Heat because the team annoys him. “Listen, if the Miami Heat were playing the Washington Generals, I would pick the Washington Generals,” Barkley said. “It’s something about that team that annoys me."
And there's something about Barkley that annoys me... oh wait... it's him!!! LOL!

With this revelation, there has to be somebody out there to root for the Heat to win-
Not to see Barkley in the Speedo...

Just to know that the Mouth of the South had to wear it!!!

I think it's a bit humorous to label Jordan as a shooter as if that's ALL he was. He led the league in steals 3x. He was a nine-time all-defensive 1st-teamer. His nickname was/is "Air" Jordan for his soaring/dunking ability (I suppose that if you stretch it than that's shooting). He averaged something like 5.5 assists per game and 5 rebounds a game. Among the reg seasons, all star games and finals, he won something like 15 MVP awards. He was so athletic that he made it to triple a baseball. He probably would have another ring had he not taken a hiatus to play baseball. He led his teammates, charmed reporters and the public alike and demonstrated the killer instinct to close out his opponents over and over again.

Just a shooter? Please.

Magic must be jealous 'cause he was just a passer.

This has been killing us. I get so frustrated watching the Mavs stand still and watch the ball while the Heat get almost every rebound - offensive and defensive.

Jordan was far from just being a shooter....totally agree. 1 thing Lebron has been missing (in the finals) is the Jordan/Kobe instinct to see a double team coming and to savor beating them to the rim (sometimes it doesen't work out but....well we've all seen the Kobe and Jordan circus shots off a double team). In this series Lebron sees it coming and dishes the ball. That's fine some of the time, but right now esp in Game 4, James is handling the ball like it's molten lava - get it out of my hands!!!
I'm rooting Miami, but Dallas has deserved it more so far. They play like a close knit team.
