Miami Heat in NBA Playoffs! Bring it on Mavs (and Heat Haters!)

Nahhh, not a victory celebration, Miami just loves a good party, even before the season starts!

As Noah said, "They're Hollywood as hell... and very good."

Mmmm, I love a good rivalry!

Disclaimer: I am neither celebrating nor gloating.
Just pumped as h3ll and looking forward to a Fantastic Finals!

I think the worry that teams will start stacking talent is a bit overblown. First, you have to make room for the new players and you have to find players who are willing to pass on lots more money. Just take the Knicks for example, it looks like they are on their way but how much money does their #3, #4 guy have to settle with? Not to mention there are teams like the Thunder, Grizzlies, Bulls who are set on doing it the old fashion way. If anything the CBA will just help teams deal with bad contracts that didn't pan out rather than prevent players from taking less money which is rare to begin with.

True, I suppose the stacking talent fear is a bit overblown - though I still think the Heat are kind of proving that with three dominating players you can rely on a bunch of MLE guys and ringhunters and still get to the Finals. That being said, the Heat are still probably an anomaly in the sense that LeBron and Wade are two of the top five (if not top three) players and Bosh is probably top 10 and it's incredibly rare to have a free agency like the one we experienced last year. I guess the two big ones coming up are Dwight and CPIII - though as of today it looks like Dwight will be getting an extension in Orlando.

Woo-hoo! Just scored tickets!!! :2vrolijk_08:

See you at tip off!!!

LET'S GO HEAT!!!

Technical foul for excessive use of smilies...

To me, it all started with that pre-season celebration about their inevitable dynasty crap.

I'll be *shocked* when the hate doesn't go away and LeBron can't figure out why.

Precisely. Win or lose.

Plus LeBron wasn't good enough to carry a team, so he had to go to one with a proven winner (Wade) and another potential superstar (Bosh) already.

I never thought Lebron was good enough to carry a team, and certainly not the Cavs.

Now he's a very good piece of a very good team.

WHAT A GAME!!!

13 down... 3 to go...

It's not surprising to see people want to see Lebron and the Heat fail. What is still funny to me is how people take a perception and misinformation and turn it into fact. Wade is now considered a dirty player because of the whole Rondo thing.

Maybe Wade is much more of a cold hearted killer than I thought, he was able to wrap himself around Rondo and both fall backwards and have Rondo fall just so...

And then the brillant part of this plan was that Rondo didn't fall on his back or his elbow like most other people would have but that Wade knew he would fall and try to hold himself up and then his arm would twist the opposite direction that the elbow is designed to function in. Brillant Wade just Brillant. And all the while, Wade was able to avoid injury to himself on such a well thought out move that happened in a second or 2.

Brillant move on Wade's part, I wonder why he waited to game 3 instead of just taking him out right from the beginning. lol.....

Miami plays Boston, right before the series all the experts predict Boston the winner due to the regular season's record. After the series, Boston was old and injured and Rondo's injury hurt the Celtics. But wait until they have to play the Bulls, then we'll see. Heat wins in 5 and "Takes out Rondo"

Miami plays Chicago, right before the series all the experts predict Chicago the winner due to the regular season's record, hight and overall better bench and team. Especially after the 1st game, Heat wins in 5 and "Lebron and the Heat make D Rose look like the LVP {Least valuable player} instead on the MVP" After the series, well the Bulls really don't have any good 2nd options blah, blah, blah.... I thought they were simply better and would overwhelm the big 3.

Now of course, Dallas is the greatest team ever, one game does not make a series so we will see. But one thing is for sure, people's opinion of the Heat and Lebron is all based on emotion and facts were simply an after thought. Hell facts weren't even considered. Maybe he's really that good and the team is really that good.

Sounds like you've twisted things around, actually.

Watching to ESPN and listening to it and Fox radio, and reading online and the papers after the game, I didn't hear anyone of substance call Wade a dirty player, or even saying he took out Rondo. Maybe a few yahoos calling in or posting on boards, but that's it. Almost every expert I saw or heard also said the 3 regular season games of Miami-Chicago had to be discounted. One was during Miami's slump, Wade (or Bosh, can't recall) didn't play in another, and all three games were close. One of the ESPN experts predicted the Heat in about 6 games, no one said he was out of his mind or that Chicago would wipe them.

What most of us don't like about Miami is the arrogance they showed with their pre-season celebration, and the way LeBron went there. It was similar to when ARod joined the Yankees. It was the team where he could finally win, and the team that would pay him a lot of money. For most sports fans, that's nothing to cheer for.

If you wish to call that based on emotion and not facts, then so be it.

What "arrogance" was displayed by Miami at the pre-season celebration? It was entertainment.

It was a pep rally, a party, nothing more, nothing less.

Are pre-game player introductions in the dark under a spotlight, set to dramatic music, with players running and jumping and high-fiving, before the ball has even been tipped, arrogance? Of course not. It's entertainment.

Entertainment. It's what the NBA's about.

And "The team that could pay him a lot of money" paid him less than Cleveland and less than the other teams in contention.
And Wade took less to get LeBron and to keep Haslem.

And I don't think it's accurate at all to compare the Steinbrenner Yankees to the Heat.

Heat owner Mickey Arison may be a billionaire, but he's been a frugal one working within the confines of salary caps.
It's simply team president Pat Riley putting together/pulling off the off season deal of the decade, perhaps quarter century?

"The Decision"? I'm not a fan of it.

But a championship would validate LeBron's decision to leave Cleveland for Miami – not “The Decision,” but the decision, wouldn't it?

"Sounds like you've twisted things around, actually. "
just read a few posts back, I've heard it many times since on sports forums etc.. I never said anyone in the media said so.

I'll be watching and, somehow, cheering for the team that beat mine. Go Mavs!

You're out of Oklahoma?? Coooool! I'm going for the Heat! Stupid Mavs beat my Lakers and Thunder.

I did not like LeBron's decision to go to the Heat, but I liked D Wade and the Heat before LJ got there. So, I had to make a tough decision. I feel like the Thunder and the Lakers both could have easily beaten the Mavs. Their offensive game plan is so easy to decipher, so needless to say I couldn't wait to see a real defense put it on the Mavs.

You wrote "experts". I took that to mean seen in the media, as that's where most experts end up, or are quoted from. People who comment on message boards, including myself, are not experts in most people's views.

Welcome to the Dark Side, Marlon!!!

Haha. That's pretty funny. Seriously though, I don't think there's anything anyone can do, or say at this point that is going to turn the masses in favor of the Heat. They're the most vilified team in all of sports, for whatever that reason may be, and it's going to take quite a bit to alter that.

groveChuck - Although I can't side with you and your team, I very much appreciate the way you approached this topic and keep it flowing in a fun, lighthearted way.

Do I win a ring for it? Just kidding...
I absolutely love the Heat, have since Day 1 in 1988. But it is, after all, a game.

Heat v Mavs
PC v Mac
Pana v Sony
Whoever v Whatever...

People can be pretty funny... But then fan is short for fanatic...

But thanks Terry!

This is your way of saying you'll buy the first round of Heat victory beers, right???

I thought that was the Yankees???
Close call. But the Yankees probably have more fans.

A Championship?
That won't make people like them more. I thin you're missing the point, the same way LeBron is. They could win the next five championships, and that won't alter the dislike fans have for them.

Though I agree the lighthearted approach works well. I mean, it's only a sport. Right?

Right?!
