Merlin Settings on XH-A1

Just purchased an A1. I went to the Tiffen site and tried to set up my Merlin to the camera using their user cookbook settings. It seems to waffle more that my DVC 80 did. Has anyone successfully balanced the camera to the Merlin? Any suggestions for settings?
 
Guy, i am curious about the answers you may get, because i am in the market for a merlin for my A1 i bought a month ago. the merlin's advertised max weight load is for cameras up to 5lbs, so the A1 is pushing it right out of the box at 4.5lbs, but there are great examples of it's use with ext mic and large battery on youtube, so i am still interested. i'll stay posted here. very good question.
