AC160 Memory Card differences

I'm pulling the plug to buy the AC160 but before I do, can someone tell me if San Disk 'Extreme Pro' is worth the extra cost over 'Extreme' SDHC cards? I do a lot of events so I will be buying 2 x 32 GB and 2 x 16GB cards. The difference is over $200.

I prefer the recommendations of users than that of a sales person. Thanks.

The faster cards will only allow you to offload the data faster, assuming you have a USB 3.0 reader.

Thanks Phil. I'm moving up from the DVX-100A so memory cards are new to me. Are you sayig that the Extreme Pro cards need the USB 3.0 reader and that the Extreme cards do not? Both types are series 10. Do you know of any tutorials on this subject?

Class 10 is pretty much a set speed. That said- you can easily max out the card's potential speed with a slower reader. I.e. USB1 is way slower to transfer than Class 10 is capable of doing. Like anything else- you get what you pay for.

Thanks Guys! My current card reader is USB 2.0. I need to upgrade the little box to 3.0.

It is easy and not expensive at all to upgrade to USB 3.0. Many of the USB 3.0 add-on interface boards do require power from the computer's power supply, though. So that can potentially pose an issue during installation.

However, Western Digital makes an affordable USB 3.0 adapter that does NOT require extra power. It is super easy to install into an existing system, and will give you two fast USB 3.0 ports. It really makes backing up data to an external USB 3.0 hard drive dramatically faster than what one can get with the same hard drive and only a USB 2.0 port.

And B&H Photo has this card in stock for only $28. It is a most worthwhile upgrade to get, in my opinion.
