MBP freezing during ingest

When using P2CMS to ingest more than two or three clips onto a Firewire 800 drive my MacBook Pro freezes then the screen turns dark with this message, "Shut down your mac by holding the power button down for a few seconds or using the Restart button."

I am trying to create a workflow based on Barry's Sticky,"Proper P2 offloading. It warns against dragging and dropping "no name" in the finder but I can't get P2CMS to export or ingest more than one clip at a time and ingesting one at a time isn't a realistic workflow.

I have tried re-downloading it and re-installing it and tried it with P2 driver 1.3.0 and 1.3.3 and neither works. (1.3.3 required a re-install of the Duel Adapter driver (1.0.4) to recognize a P2).

I would use Raylight but the workflows I've read about seem to require both.

The Stats:
17" 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro / 4 GB RAM / Mac OS 10.4.11 / QT 7.2
Duel Adapter (1.0.4) / Firemax 1 TB FW 800 External HD
Final Cut Studio 2 / HVX 200 4.06/ 16GB P2's /

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've had the same issue. I'm not sure if it's P2CMS or the Duel Adaptor. I'm sure I read somewhere that the Duel Adaptor works better with Leopard ( one of the few things that actually does yet!! ) than Tiger, but P2CMS doesn't work with Leopard. After a few attempts I gave up on the MacBook Pro Dual 2.4Ghz, OSX 10.4.10, Duel Adaptor, P2CMS combo as unstable.

Those are kernel panics. This is likely attributable to the duel adapter.

I would make the transfers to the internal HD and then the FW drive.

Thanks for the info, I looked up "kernel panics" and learned something new.

I just tried creating a P2CMS database on my internal HD and ingesting there but know luck. Tried five clips and got another "kernel panic."

Thanks again for the reply.
