Step one, Export from Premiere Pro 2.0 in Uncompressed Filmstrip format for After Effects. Step two. Import into After Effects. Drop into a 23.976 composition. Set the composition several frames beyond what your clip length is. Apply Remove Grain. Change the viewing mode to final output, instead of preview. Fiddle with the Noise reduction slider under the noise reduction settings. Try to get a mix between the most detail and the smooth picture. If there is a ton of noise in the background that just seems to not go away, bring the slider down to about .2 and then enable temporal filtering. Set it to 100% and bring motion sensitivity to .9. Observe the results and then play with the noise reduction slider again until you achieve the look you want. It will make much more minor of a difference when temporal filtering is one, but it does help.

Output as an Uncompressed Quicktime or AVI format. NOT as a filmstrip again. For some reason if you export as an uncompressed filmstrip, it stretches the clip and makes it stuttery.

Does anyone have any other methods of Noise reduction that have worked for you?

I am about 1/3 of the way through Stricken noise reducing. It takes a long time, becuase each scene is different and a blanket noise reduction would not work. I am happy with it though.

After this, I will make the Encore Menu...I am still new at that so we shall see how it goes, then I should receive the score fro Leo, lay it all together and Stricken will be born.

Has anyone gotten their DVD's professionally Duplicated? Glass master and all... I am wondering if I make the DVD in Encore and send it to them or if I send the m a file, or what? hmmm..... I'll keep you updated.

I had DVD's of my last short, A Price Too High, duplicted through Norm Sanders company www.playitagainprod.com and they did a great job. I didn't have a glass master or anything, I just sent a DVD-R and he made them from that. :thumbsup:
 
I love that music on your website for "Stricken." And the grabs look great. I love your use of DOF. Can't wait to see your flick!!!

And I checked out your noise reduction demos. Pretty amazing difference!

Update: I finished the 100+ noise reduction shots and am rendering an uncompressed video to see about uprezzing to 16:9. I will see how it looks. I will keep Stricken 4:3 for the DVD though to keep the resolution, but 16:9 hopefully for the Fest. Leo just let me know the score should be here soon!:)
 
Well...I did it...I put my baby up for sale in the marketplace. It was awesome using this camera, and I hope others get the same amazing experiences...but I am buying an HVX baby! Yeah! :) I just burned a DVD tester of the finished movie minus the score. We will see how it turned out......
 
Have you noticed that the waitresses uniforms look very similiar to a French Maid's

So I burned the DVD and I noticed that I was getting Ghosting when there was fast motion. I have two options that it might be from. I burned a high quality CBR MPEG2 DVD and set it to 15. That might have been the problem as when I set it to 9, it worked fine. Another option is that it might be Encore. I hope it is not encore. I will let you know!

My movie is ineligible though because it is too long. It is total running time 15 minutes with credits. I just couldn't shorten it down and keep the story. I really want it to do well at festivals, so this contest is awesome to see what people think and get some feedback. :) Since I am entering for Exhibition only, I have to scrounge up the money to buy my own HVX. haha!
 
No, it would come off clipped. The story is tense and needs the pauses and drawn out moments. Also, I have been promoting it outside of the fest to give it legs to run to feature funding, so it is ineligible that way too. I don't mind though. I enter the contests for the feedback, to make myself a better film maker.:) I hope everyone enjoys it. It is disturbing so some might not get it or like it, but I sure do. :beer:
 
Well, I understand what you are saying... and though I was going to do this festival anyway without the lure of a fantastic prize.... THAT IS ONE FREAKIN' FANTASTIC PRIZE!!! I think that I would find a way to become eligible.

But I understand what you are saying. I can't wait to see your film. I've enjoyed the grabs and music that I seen and heard. And I love the title!

running, uh, huh. No, seriously, I do wish you luck on your flick and I suggest
get it down to 10 minutes if you can. A short that won an Oscar was about 10
minutes long, that's about the length of attention span for most audience members.
